While it isn't clear yet which Second Life server versions will no longer support group voting, the upcoming 1.23 viewer release candidate (due any time now) will no longer include support for the feature, which will then be phased out of the servers at a subsequent date.

If I remember correctly, Group owners could put issues up to the membership for a vote. When I lived on an estate, the landlord would put changes in the covenant up for vote. We also voted on some issues in the early days of the Forum Cartel, such as buying land and building the Hangout.

I guess a group could always make a web poll somewhere on a members-only forum, if a large group. Or just ask members for input, if a small group.

Does seem handy; wonder why it's going the way of the dodo?

Well, i actually use that particular group feature.

Guess we have to make a move towards user created voting systems...After which 2 years will go by and LL will steal someones voting system design and implement it in a new voting system for groups and various other ways throughout SL thus GOMing the content creators who moved in to fill the gap LL left by removing voting from groups in the first place.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

Will the forums even be here in 2 years to reference this "i told you so"? Probably not.
