Class and Cluelessness

(With apologies to Jane Austen.)

I attended a building class last night in which one of the participants, whose avatar was dressed in some sort of cheesy (but expensive-looking) pseudo-Borg outfit, first walked around bumping into everyone and then rezzed a prim in the middle of the group, maximized it, added some anime texture, and tossed in a rotation script. I didn't handle it gracefully, I'm afraid; I just said something rude, deleted the prims from my build, and left.

After that, the class's instructor IMed me to say BubbaBorg was "new to SL and didn't know what he was doing." Am I wrong in thinking that the instructor, though undoubtedly a nice guy, was being a little naive? To me, it looked like the person knew exactly what he was doing: perpetuating an escalating series of annoyance to see how far he could go in disrupting the class. I think that such behavior is simply a more subtle, more intelligent, but no less effective form of griefing.

Or am I just being cranky?

One could not possibly do all of those actions without knowing exactly what they were doing. In effect that would be like driving into a wall 35 miles and 3 turns away from where you got into the car, then claiming not to know how to drive.

Nope, you're probably right. The instructor may have been trying to be diplomatic in giving him/her the benefit of the doubt. But chances are that person was just getting off on being annoying. Happens a lot. But, if the griefing is relatively subtle and the person plays dumb....not much to be done. Ya just gotta kind of ignore stuff like that I guess.

I could do all those things 3 days after logging in.

that said, the guy was pr0bably being an ass....

just another reason instructors should have land powers... even if just to freeze =)
