I did a search on an item in classifieds an found when i teleported to the ads location that there was no store there . I did other searches on the items name in places an groups but was unable to pull up anything . I was wondering if there was anyway to get the owners name of the ad so that i could IM them to see if they still have their product for sale .

In the classified ad, click on "Profile"

Oh this horror ... I have a place called Grim's Keep listed against a classified ... it doesn't exist but people keep turning up. I tried joining their group, to get to the owner of the classified ... now the group shows on my profile but I can't access it through groups.

A support ticket and a bug report are in with LL ... and people still keep appearing on my land at 760 ... I set the TP spot down on the ground but they still keep appearing.

Helpfully, the group founders have deleted their profiles and there's no one in the group with any ability to remove members.

Quick thread diversion: Cherry, if you see the group in your profile, try double clicking on it there to bring up the group window. I can't believe I've been in SL for 10 months and just learned about that last week. :)

Bless you Ava ... that opens the group info window but that doesn't help as there's no one who can remove me! I did try that when I first saw the group in my profile.

Seems like some sort of XML bork to my lay(wo)man's eye. Support ticket in progress!

Drat, I thought there was a "leave group" button on the group window. :(

I had a similar situation. A group didn't show up on my own group window so I could "Leave Group" - I posted in the group how I would like someone to remove me - a few other people chimed in the same - one of the group managers refused to obliged. Yes the manager was on and actively communicating with the group.

I filed a support ticket and within 36 hours a nice Linden kindly removed me from that group. Evidently one of my fellow "hostages" in the group filed a bug report also. :)
