I installed windlight (over the prior SL installation) and it appears to work fine. However, I have two avatars and when I log in as the other, SL reverts back to the pre-windlight version. If I uninstall SL completely and reinstall windlight will this problem clear up? Also, do I stand to lose anything other than settings if I uninstall SL?

You mean, you get the pretty Windlight First Look splash screen, and then when you log in as Problem Petunia, it opens the old viewer? That would be very strange.

Make sure you're clicking the windlight viewer always.. i accidentally use the normal one sometimes.

When I re-log in it doesn't start with the Windlight splash screen. But looking at the screen I don't see where to choose the Windlight viewer.

They are different icons on your desktop or where you installed to. the Windlight one is labeled Secondlife Windlight Hope this helps
