I know that the checkbox 'Always allow Create Objects' in the group info is useless. If not checked, still everyone in the group can rez and build stuff on the land that is deeded to that group. That is in my honest opinion an unsolved issue for years now that needs to be taken care of. Because of this, well lets call it a glitch, I have to create 2 groups per business, one that has open enrollment (fans, VIPS, customers) and one staff group where enrollment is closed. Old news, I know.
Okay now here the problem: I have deeded land to my staff group (closed enrollment), I have unchecked Create Objects and Object Entry in the land options for All Residents so only my staff can create objects and reposition objects from outside my land to my land. Till today I used to believe this way strangers that are not in the staff group the land is deeded to were able to rez or build things on my land.
Today it seems I was wrong. Someone somehow rezzed objects (things I do not sell) in my mall. A complete prim littering stranger, and not in any of my groups. Of course this person is banned and reported now and the objects are returned, but still, how did this person do it? What to do to prevent more prim littering? Is there something I missed? How the hell did this prim litterer do it? Any ideas?
Thank you. Merv Writer

The land setting does not prevent objects from 'entering' group-owned land. It's been a bug for years - to my knowledge.
For me, it wasn't much of a problem until not very long ago when objects from the next sim came in and stayed. On one occasion they used up ALL my spare prims - over 5000 of them! The next sim is a sort of battle area and I assume they recently started having organised battles. I cured it by setting the auto-return on - with a heavy dose of crossed fingers.
You can fix it that way, but try to make sure that all the required objects on the land are *set* to the group. It's not necessary to deed them - they just need to be set to the group (i.e. rezzed with the group tag on or even set by hand).

Autoreturn pretty much does the trick. I never disable building or scripts on my own land, but, autoreturn does just fine to clean up litter. (^_^)y

Thanks for the fast reply Phil. Yes that is a good solution. However, I can't set the land to auto return because I cannot set everything to my staff group (group that owns the land). Things like a group inviter and object giver that is set to our VIP group (open enrollment) and not to our staff group so our visitors can join our VIP group and get free gifts. Hmm, well seems to me it is all up to the Lindens then to finally resolve 'cold case' bugs. Oh well, I do not get that many prim litterers, I just keep on smiling, returning objects, reporting prim litterers, banning them and hoping a lot for the day Linden Lab is gonna fix the problems.

Set everything you want to keep to your land group.
Then set auto return in the Objects tab to 1 or higher. POOF.
People can apparently slide things onto land. Squatters do it all the time throughout SL. They look for land with auto return at 0. How do I know? I found out the hard way.

From: Merv Writer I know that the checkbox 'Always allow Create Objects' in the group info is useless. If not checked, still everyone in the group can rez and build stuff on the land that is deeded to that group. That is in my honest opinion an unsolved issue for years now that needs to be taken care of. When "Group" is checked for "Create Objects" on group-owned land then "Always allow 'Create Objects'" literally means what it says: anyone with the group ability can always rez a prim regardless of their current active group. Anyone who doesn't have the group ability will need to first make that group active before they can rez a prim. If you want "Always allow 'Create Objects'" to mean "only these people can rez prims and noone else in the group can" then you need to uncheck "Group" for "Create Objects". With it unchecked non-deeded scripts will no longer be able to rez prims (that's expected) *but* since scripts in objects you own inherit (or at least used to) your group privileges they won't fail if you're actually on the sim (can be a very difficult problem to solve if you don't know about that quirk ).

Things like a group inviter and object giver that is set to our VIP group (open enrollment) and not to our staff group so our visitors can join our VIP group and get free gifts. For those you can cheat a little. Set the "VIP group" prims to that group as you need, then link them to a root prim in the land owner group. You won't be able to see it in the editor, but the prims retain their group settings even when linked. The root prim is all the counts for autoreturn. You can bury the root prim inside the VIP object to avoid confusion when people touch it. That does mean you need modify privs on the group joiner etc., and the scripts that take the touches have to be written so that they don't care about being in the root prim, but if you can clear those hurdles you are good to go. If that can't work out, you might set aside a small parcel just for those objects.

Make a seperate 16m plot around those objects you can't set to the staff group and set them as you like. Put 3 minute Autoreturn everywhere else.

I have had this problem too. Come home to find little square boxes left all over, and always by the same avatar.
