can anyone help me? When buying Lindens from a third party bank does this change your "no payment info on file" on your SL profile to "payment info used" or does it not change?

Nope, it has be done via LL. Not sure if buying from XStreet now gives you payment info used as they're owned by Linden Lab now.
Be really really really careful buying from third party exchanges.

Ciaran is correct and also IIRC Blondin Linden also said it now counted if you buy via SLX as well
