I own a private island and someone Teleported in that I didnt want on my land. (long story on that) I tried to Eject and ban with the estate tools him but he just stood there. The land is group owned, do I have to have my group tag on to eject? I put him on the Ban list in the Estate menu but maybe in the About Land as well? It erks me that he was there floating and mocking me until I muted him. Of course I ARed but what else could I do I dont want him coming back. It creeped me out the only way to rid him was to restart the sim.

I *think* you do need to have the group tag on. The key is that even on estate land, the parcel-specific tools work like they do on mainland. More important than the group tag though is the group roles and abilities. You need to be in a role that has the ability to do ban/eject. Being estate owner (or an estate manager) lets you bounce avatars using the estate menu, but just to right click them and get the freeze/ban/eject means you must have the abilitiy to do so on the parcel of land. I've got a JIRA about making this process easier for sim owners -- http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2075 --, but it's only been in there for 18 months though so the Lindens haven't got around to looking at it yet. </bitter> Anyways, if you have land that is rented out and hence owned by someone else then you can't use the parcel freeze/ban/eject functions, you have to go through the estate menu. -Atashi

I can eject people from mainland parcels without having to switch to the right group - dunno about estate land but I assume it's the same.
There is an old bug where sometimes eject doesn't seem to do anything. I just do the eject again and they go away..

Ah ok - I wasn't sure about needing to wear the group tag, but I am quite positive you need to actually have the eject/ban ability in the group roles. Without that group ability, you can't do it on group land even if its your estate.

Perhaps this 'bug' has long since been fixed, but there used to be a problem where under certain circumstances, an ejected avatar would get 'ghosted' in place. They're really gone - but their avatar still shows up on your screen until you relog. You can tell if the person is a ghost if you try to walk through them. If the avatar is completely phantom, they're a ghost. If you bump into them, they're not. Hope this helps!

No groups tags if you have the role required already. and for the last couple of days we have been having landtool problems and estate tool issues. so we are blaming the newest server upgrade

Just avoid the land commands.
I have not touched them in years.
Stick to the estate menu tools only. "kick user from estate" is just fine.
