hey, im new to the forum and Im not sure exactly where to post this so i guess Il post it here. I just bought a brand new computer which has all the requirements for SL, Its a windows vista and it seems like when i log on i get in for a few mins and then i get a blank screen and i have to manually shut down my computer. i was able to run SL on my last computer but i had windows XP and it didnt have nearly the amount of power this one has. So im thinking it might be a problem with vista. I also downloaded the game from the website under the vista link. So if anyone out there can help me with my problem, it would be greatly apperciated. Thx

Right now SL isn't running the best .. so one thing could be to try SL a little later.
Another thing, some scripted attachments are working well with Havok 4, so remove all Scripted attachments and see if there is an improvement.

Lots of posts on Vista and SL™ problems Poker so I suggest you start by using the Search. But to hit on one of the biggest problems, make sure you have the most recent drivers for you graphics card. We just go a new Vista machine this weekend and haven’t had a bit of problems. You may want to list your pc specs here also. Good luck. And yes … SL™ has been really crappy these past few…days!

From: Poker Bury ok, ive been having trouble the last 2 weeks, so i dont think its a problem with SL running but il definately try taking off any scripts Hopefully some of the more technical people have some ideas. This is a bit of the quiet time for the forums .. After most of the US people got off work, but aren't back and logging in to SL yet.

From: DaQbet Kish And yes … SL™ has been really crappy these past few…days! Weeks and or months.....Grrrrr Also on new Vista PC..... SL ©®™ seems fine to me, I suppose would depend on your own definition of "fine" though..... Mine is way below "great" and just above "crap"

You don't tell us what kind of Graphics card you have.. but please make sure that you have the latest drivers installed. I am running Vista 64 and it runs fine most of the time. Once in a while SL crashes because it makes the Graphics Card Driver crash. I get the blank screen in the SL window and a notice from the OS telling me that the Graphics Card Driver crashed and recovered. I just relog into SL and all is well again.
Good luck.

If this is a name brand pc like HP, Dell, Sony or such, you may want to visit the Drivers and Downloads section of their website to check if any new updates are available. Or try going to ATI’s website. I think they have a way to automatically check if your pc has the newest drivers. I know nVidia does.

We had problems with Vista crashing on a new comp - not just from SL but from other applications. In the end we reloaded Vista using the disc. you might need to seek further advice before doing this but it worked in our case.
