2 shapes worn

My friend gave an avatar which I did not look at and just clicked wear on the folder, now I see everything in the folder has a shape icon on it. When I put my normal shape back on I am wearing two shapes, my normal one and one from this avatar that hows up in appearance as hair. I can't get it off now :/ I have a lovely black wedge sticking out of my forehead!! Help please!!

Sometimes the icons in inventory are just plain wrong, you possibly have a hair that's showing up as a shape. To remove hair put another hair on.

It might also be eyebrows. You can't wear two shapes at once.

There are three kinds of (head) hair in SL:

(1) prim hair, which is like a wig
(2) avatar hair, which is a creepy thing that oozes out of your head
(3) hair that is painted on to your skin

If it's the first kind of hair, you can take it off by right-clicking on it and choosing "detach".

It sounds like you're talking about the second kind, and the way to get rid of it is with a bald cap.

In your inventory window, in the space at the top, type BALD. You ought to see at least one come up. Right-click on one of them and select "wear".

It won't change your appearance except to make the ugly hair go away.

I like to keep lots of different bald caps (a.k.a. eyebrows) for when I'm human. They all change the eyebrow position ever so slightly and you can walk around with different moods.
