Saving Outfits vs Appearance

Hi guys

I'm not really clear on the difference between doing a SAVE or SAVE AS... in the 'Appearance' screen, vs. CREATE OUTFIT

It looks like Create Outfit saves a set under "Clothing"

Where doing a 'save as" in Appearance puts in entry into some folder I created a few months back.

The Outfit contents though also have this same entry.

I've had some recent trouble with playing around with wearing things I've picked up (at freebie places so far until I can buy L$) where I accidentally end up bald when trying to revert back to another look.

I think what I want to do is keep my general look (body shape, face look, hair style and color) generally the same and just have different outfits (clothing and jewelry).

I noticed when saving (an Outfit?) that I can select checkboxes on what gets saved with that outfit. Should I just always check all the boxes?

Is "Appearance" just something one generally modifies when setting up their avator and then doesn't really need to modify later?

I may not be asking this correctly as I'm just trying to figure all this out, hope you can understand what I'm asking.

Thanks

I always check every box except "Rename Clothing to Folder Name", and also type in an identifying name and the date in the Folder Name box.

That way I do save my hair and skin and so on, as well as the particular slider clothing and also attachments I may be wearing.

(I prefer not to do the Rename Clothing, so that I can more easily identify the individual items and re-use them in other outfits.)

Create Outfit moves all of those items you are currently wearing into a folder together in your inventory... so that you can keep outfits together for quick easy wearing.

Save and Save As are for your appearance... your skin and shape.. and your hair if you are not using prim hair... all those things you change in Appearance not including your clothing.
Save... Saves the changes you have made to your current Appearance item.... Save As prompts you to give it another name.. and that Appearance will now be listed in your Body Parts folder of your Inventory.
Just the same as in any program on your computer.... Save = current file... Save As = New file.

I should have said more about the difference in function of the Save button as opposed to the Make Outfit option: you basically called it correctly. The Save button does change every instance of that particular item in your Inventory.

For instance, if you had gotten your nose shape exactly right, and you decided you wanted to over-write the old version of your nose that's currently in all your old Outfits, you would use the Save button.
