Shiny Things sim down?

I've been trying to get to Shiny Things (in the Shiny Falls sim) for several days, and I *always* crash trying to TP there. I tried TP'ing to the adjacent sim to the north, and the Shiny Falls sim just isn't there--it looks like open water, and I can fly over it. I looked at the grid information at the top of my screen when I fly over where Shiny Things should be and it shows the other sim's name and a negative number for the Y coordinate. But when I search for Shiny Falls using the map there are green dots there and it appears to be online.

I've tried with several different alts, at different times of day, you name it. I searched RA to see if anything had been posted, to no avail. Does anyone know what's going on? Are you able to get to Shiny Things? Is it closed?

You might try logging in directly to Shiny Falls, sometimes that gets around problems like this one.

Try tp-ing first to one of the mainland infohubs.

Sometimes island-to-island tp's can be wonky.

Nope. It hangs on 'waiting for a region handshake' and kicks me out. Everything else is working fine; I can TP to other places, buy things, the world is rezzing. My internet connection is fine.

I've tried from my home on the mainland, and one of my alts logs in at a mainland infohub and has tried from there. Right now she's hovering over what *should* be Shiny Things, and all she sees is water. Oddly, when she pulls up the map, it shows the island and buildings that should be there...but they're not there.

I've tried clearing cache and everything else I know of to do. I'm completely flummoxed.

If you really really want to get the shoes before the teleport problem can be fixed, they are sold over at Onrez, demos too.

If the island is down they wont be delivered -unless the onrez boxes are hosted somewhere else.

The island is up, she just can't get there.

I bought a pair through OnRez, and they were delivered. I'm just stymied as to why I can't get to the sim. It's as though my IP is blocked from seeing it or something. SL logs me out every single time, no matter what roundabout way I try to TP there.

have you tried getting a friend to go there and to TP you in to the SIM?

I'll try that tomorrow; at this point it's three a.m. and I'm giving up and going to bed. In the meantime I found a few JIRAs that may pertain to the problem, and I'll check their status later as well.

You've entered the Shiny Zone? Or maybe you've found Twilight Things?

Try to restart your cable/dsl modem and your router if you have one.

Sounds like something, firewall or even your ISP (I hope not!) is blocking that particular server address...

Seems odd to me that it would start blocking that server address suddenly. I haven't changed any settings, haven't changed my firewall setup or ISP; I'm able to TP everywhere else on the grid, and it happens using different viewers. My modem and router seem to be working fine.

Yeah, I'm thinking I've found Twilight Things.

I was there this morning, got the new wedges in Brick colour...I love them. Just a thought...could you have somehow gotten yourself banned from that sim?

Unlikely. I'm an amiable sort and a good customer. Besides, I tried to send a very new alt over as well, and she had the same problem.

A friend thinks it may be a network problem at the server end (not my end), so we may try getting server information if he can get there. He's far more tech savvy than I, so maybe he'll be able to figure it out.

If youare a Windows user, it could be your DNS cache, since LL just changed the addresses of many sims.

Start->Run->CMD->enter->ipconfig /flushdns->enter->exit->enter. Then start SL again and give it a try.

I did this, and then once I was back online, repaired the connection to reset DNS just for good measure. Lo and behold, it worked!

Now I can indulge my fondness for Fallingwater's shoes "in person" again! Thanks to all for the help.
