Is there anyway to tell who returns an item on your sim?

What I mean is..I own my sim..but I have a couple people who I made sim managers..and yesterday, a bunch of stuff got returned to people..and all it says is returned by sim owner...BUT, is there a way to tell WHO it was....or is it one of those mysteries that will forever go unsolved.

I've never been able to find this out and it's not always someone returning items, there are issues that can do this.

Hmmm never thought of that...It's just the message with the returned items, was returned by owner of estate...what issues cause this to happen?

I think this is one of those things that only LL could tell you and even then, they'd have to dig through the server logs to find the info. You can try asking the concierge with a ticket but they may well say no - depends on who picks the ticket up and how busy they are at the moment, I guess.

I know it used to happen if someone rezzed an item going over your prim limit, I think they had fixed this, I have had buildings returned because someone rezzed a 400 prim vehicle on my free vehicle rezzing platform, since then I put it in it's own group to prevent this.

Other times have been when I've turned autoreturn on and tennants or I have had items not set to group.

When I asked they said no, but you're right, it does no harm to ask.

Had a sim a few months ago where we suspected something similar was happening. I hope they have fixed it because it's a massive pain.

I couldn't say for sure but making sure important objects are locked may not hurt, it may change the pirority on items deleted, whic I think is supposed to be based on newest prims first, ideally the offending object just rezzed.

I've also noticed with Snowglobe it's very easy to accidently delete/return items with the wrong right clicks, haven't worked out how it appens yet but I frequently get the "item is locked, do you want to still take/delete it?" message.

When a person right clicks on an object and selects Return, their name is given in the return message "Your object has been returned by..." and all that.

When it's done via the button in the land window, the name is hidden.

I haven't played with parcel options in groups much, but there might be a way to restrict that second option.

Probably if it was a strange array of random things returned and no one is owning up to it, then the land just returned it because prims were maxed.

It would likely say "owner" sent it back, in that case, no?

I am always way under prim so I dunno. ( /me hates lag )

This is the kind of message i get in EMAIL when someone returns my objects :

You have received a message from Second Life:
Your object 'XYZ' has been returned to your inventory lost and found folder by (avatar name) from parcel 'TROPICAL * FAAILOK 03 *' at Serena Faailok 54, 75 due to parcel owner return.

and i noticed that when i log on i get that message in green in my local chat box.

Usually the attempt to rez the new object fails. I don't know what would cause new objects to kick old objects off, when the new object puts you over the limit.

I'm not denying what Tegg said, it's just not my understanding of how it's supposed to work.

Here are the ways I know of that can cause objects to be returned:

- parcel object timeout
- explicit right-click -> return
- in About Land -> Objects panel, clicking on an owner and returning all that owner's objects
- terraforming: if you raise the ground level, any objects now underground get returned
- Estate tools, Get Top Scripts, or Get Top Colliders (whatever it's called) -- these show lists of objects, and you can pick and Return them from there.
- sale of land, and "keep objects with land" is not checked. (Clearly not Yuumy's case.)

I bet there are more. I don't know which cases cause the person to be identified, but hopefully it's all the ones where it's done explicitly by the user, rather than by a timer or another event (sale or terraforming).

Oh yeah .. there was a griefer object being passed around not long ago; if you wore it on your own land, you'd get all your objects back! At least, all those under the max height on your sim.

Wheee, fun.

I found this one out by accident whilst trying to fix badly terraformed land.

another way things can get returned is when you reconnect plots that were previously owned by someone else on private estates...it can upset the prim limits and things go poof. had this happen a few times and it is verrrry annoying. and i didnt know about the underground thing either...esp since im always having to dig stuff out of the ground on my sims LOLL

if it goes underground you get the message that the object went offworld so that is easy enough to figure out.

by sim owner I am thinking of the estate tools, maybe someone played with the object bonus, if you lower it objects get return too but not sure what the message is then.
