Hi all. I'm sorry to ask what is probably a simple question but I was wondering what actually happens when you file an Abuse Report. After over a year in SL I had to file one the other night which saddened me but this guy was being a total **** to me and wouldn't stop. I wont go into details and from what I've read here it wasn't as bad as some of the awful things people do but still annoyed me no end. I got curious though.. Is there some way to tell what happens with to the person who the AR is filed against? I'm not being vengeful lol.. just curious as to what happened to the person. I guess I've led a sheltered SL really and not really hung out too much in populated areas where this stuff happens a lot. I have searched around but didn't see an answer anywhere. Thanks in advance.

It is rare to find out what the results are. Occasionally you might run across the incident in the police blotter or what ever it is called these days.

Damien1's just about right with his image.
Another way is if the avatar might have been banned. It won't show up in the people search. Or if it's an encroachment, the offending item will vanish.
Other than what he said and these things, LL won't tell!

I would like to know the average timescale for abuse reports to be actioned, i filed one about an object overhanging my land which I am sure is preventing the land from selling, the offending object is still there 2 days after my report

They get executed. They call it "off-lined". Sometimes they win their appeal. But not often. AR mean "Avitar Removal". Ask Pep. He knows all about it.

From: Medusa Torok I would like to know the average timescale for abuse reports to be actioned, i filed one about an object overhanging my land which I am sure is preventing the land from selling, the offending object is still there 2 days after my report It depends upon the offence, an overhanging object is viewed as lower priority than say replicating bears in suits or Mario, they get dealt with in a few minutes in my experience whereas like you I had an issue of a overhanging object and that took four or five days as a I recall, this was after trying to contact the owner of said object several times.

AR = Abuse Report - doesn't mean Avatars are being removed.
Usually the account is taken unavailable for some time (depends on the AR reason), this includes unavailability forever.
Action times also depend on the AR type and quality (for example: if you report nudity on a PG land and include a screenshot the action time is minutes).
If you report something optical (like the sample above) someone might come and check - taking much longer then.
And they will not tell about the actions taken - all you have is the police blotter to have a look at.

Incident Report http://secondlife.com/support/incidentreport.phpYou might check there. I had a friend that ARd someone for encroachment on his land about seven months ago. The object was removed, then it came back within hours, he ARd it again, it was gone, then it was back within hours, another AR and it went on until he IM'd the owner of the land and told him to knock it off. I figured the Lindens got sick of all the ARs and finally did something.

If the root prim is centered on their property, then to the servers the objects that are overhanging your property, are not on your property. Refusing object entry will do nothing whatever about it because the objects aren't there.

Yeah. I didn't want to be a noodge so I didn't say anything. But that doesn't help. It's probably one reason there is even an AR category for it. If land settings worked, people could solve it themselves.
Also squatters can leave objects even without permissions, if your auto return is on 0.

Those actually get tracked and responded to.
