hi quick question please
if u x check the tick box on your profile for show in search, I assume anybody searching for you can then see your profile details?
If you leave blank then no-one can see anything on your profile and it is all greyed out correct? Or is viewing only available to your contacts and friends list?
Bit confused what information is viewed by whom.

AFAIK, "Show in Search" solely applies to the Find/All function and the external (Internet) search of SL content.

Regardless of the checkbox being ticked or not, the name will always show up in Find/People or in Groups where both you and the resident in question are members. I believe that the only way to get dropped from these is by unregistering your account. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that one, please.

Resident Profiles are always public to all (and must be PG). "Show in search" only affects *how* the Profile is displayed in Search / All, and on web searches (which is the same thing). If "Show in search" is selected, then all the content in the Profile is indexed by the web-crawler (so your Profile will be found when a search matches a string in a Pick, for example). Otherwise, the corresponding "web profile" only contains "This resident has chosen to hide their profile from search" but the regular in-world profile is still found and works as normal.

If you check that box, your profile will show up in Search All and on the Internet.

If you uncheck that box, you will only appear in the People Tab (or the link to the resident profile from search all), but the details will not appear in Search All or on the Internet.
