Hmm, maybe that's why the Help Islands where so crowded today.

People heard about getting divorced as a result of Second Life and suddenly the crowds are beating the door down to get in. I can understand that quite well. ;)

One should remember that Google News is selected by bot. It might be that one of the Google news bots is helping out his landbot brother-in-law or something like that.

I've heard that 40% of the internet and up to 35% of real life is bots.

I'm entirely bot, except for the part of me that's a plantar's wart. That thing is hard to get rid of, darn it.

There is no such thing as Google News. It's just a specialised search the delivers links to news sources. In this case it's a listing of a page in the Guardian's website.

So why do they call it Google News? What would you call it if you were Google?

It isn't called Google News, unless there's a part of the site that I haven't seen. The image that the OP posted is just a part of a page of news results - links to news sources.

And probably many other country codes, too.

Google News does exist (see the page logo), but it works like an aggregator of news feeds. You can search it for any news term you like, and it will return results. The image that Bree posted is a cropped screenshot of some returned results.

Yes, but it's not "Google News", which doesn't exist. It's just what I said it is - what you said it is.

*snerks* Amazing how one person writes the story, the others just cut n' paste for theirs.

On second thought, no.. no it's not.

I think Phil's point was that this wasn't a new story, generated by some google news agency, it's just the same story (stories) we've been looking at accessible in a different way.

Yes. It just lists links to the pages of news websites.

I hadn't seen that before. They do have a news portal after all. My mistake.

The only times I've seen news links listings are when I've done a search and then clicked on "News" for news links. Then it's nothing but a specialised search, providing links to news stories on news sites, which is more or less what the portal is except that is displays them a little differently, and categorises them.
