I own a couple of parcels on a mainland sim. One of them is my very first 512 parcel. Since I acquired the first parcel, the sim has gone through many changes. Now the entire sim, with the exception of my parcels, is owned by one individual.
I've tried to be a good neighbor. My first build, a lighthouse, still stands. I purchased and placed my home on one of the parcels that fits the theme of my neighbors build. I thought it was a good example of neighbors cooperating, considering some of the descriptions of mainland blight I've seen and read about here.
Recently, a tenant of the owner has been creating a new build. She placed graffiti on the walls of my buildings. (I've built close to the property lines in those locations.) One even said "This place sucks" and "Murder."
I mentioned to the owner that I wasn't happy with what she had done. He said he removed some of it and she sent me a snippy IM and indicated that she removed the rest. I haven't been in-world yet to see what has been done.
Today I get this message from the owner:
hi you have two full bright objects above you land, its makeing real bad lag probs in are sim, will you pls remove them, regards
I suspect that he has now resorted to harassment to get me to sell my parcels to him.
If I thought these objects had anything to do with sim lag, I would remove them as soon as possible. Is there any chance that full bright objects do create sim lag?
Thanks.

It's easy enough to check, open the statistics bar and see what difference removing them makes.
The idea that two full bright objects are causing serious lag problems seems a little far fetched to me. Are they scripted and made out of a ton of prims?
How much will he give you for your parcels?

From: Egroeg Cimino hi you have two full bright objects above you land, its makeing real bad lag probs in are sim, will you pls remove them, regards. Full bright sorta means that the object is always rendered like it would be if it was noontime, even if you force your environment to be midnight. One of the more graphics-oriented people around here might correct me here but it seems like if an object was full bright, the viewer would have an easier time rendering it because it wouldn't have to figure out how to change the textures to make it dark. So.. I'd guess that these types of objects lag less than non-full bright ones. As for the 'lagging the sim' comment, he's full of it. If we're just talking about a couple full bright objects and not objects that are megaprims or physical or changing particle settings or temp rezzing or anything like that, it's got no more effect on sim performance than any other object there. If you want to post an slurl of where they are, I can take a look at them later (or somebody else can, if they're bored). From: Milla Janick How much will he give you for your parcels? That's a good question. If you don't mind packing up and moving elsewhere, and if they're willing to make it worth your time (plus a bit for being such jerks) you can sell them the land..

Full bright objects are rendered "as is" and are not parsed for shadows, shiney or other light effects. Also, this is client side rendering time and has absolutely nothing to do with sim performance. Zero. Completely and utterly impossible for it to affect lag in any way at all.

How much will he give you for your parcels? I can't even remember what I have on the parcels that are full bright. I think the objects are sitting at 1801M high. Definitely not scripted, and I think we're only talking about two prims here. They probably are sitting on a mega prim platform. He's tried to buy them from me since he moved into the sim. We've never talked price since I don't really want to sell. That could change. I paid too much for them. I would want WAY more than they're worth, especially now.

Go check the sim out if you want. The sim is Freswick. I own the Freswick Community Center (lighthouse) and George's Retreat is my home. If you do go check it out, I bet you'll see where I think the lag (if any) is coming from. The doors on the lighthouse are phantom, so just walk on through.

Just took a quick look around.. Beautiful area!
The sim looks pretty happy to me but I am the only one here. I do see drops down to 43 sim fps but that's not very bad..
If I had to guess what the problem is, and, again, I don't really see any problem, I'd bet it's some of the animals that are in the area.
In particular, the main landowner in this region has dolphins out near 86/224. Each dolphin is a 17-prim temporary physical/phantom object that flies up into the air a bit then drops back into the water. As each dolphin hits the water, it in turn rezzes a splash object (1 prim?) which makes a nice effect then gets deleted after a couple seconds.
Watching this area for a minute, I counted 10 dolphins go by. That's 170 prims/minute the sim is being asked to create, do spinny physics on then delete. Plus 10 prims worth of splash objects.
A second guess, a distant 2nd, for what might be causing lag here, is the hummingbirds at 60/124. These guys seem to be a bit confused, probably because the flower objects that attract them are right up against the stairs. If you're really trying to limit sim lag, you might want to see if you can get the flowers moved a bit more away from the stairs or to the other side of them. Right now, it looks like the birds are frequently bumping into the stairs.
There are also some squirrels near the hummingbirds which are temp-rezzing acorns. These seem to be pretty well-behaved, though. The acorns are physical (the squirrels aren't) but there aren't many being rezzed and they just sit on the ground. I doubt these or the cat/fish/wolves are really much of a problem.
I didn't get up much above ground level.. With no lag here, it didn't seem worthwhile..
If this was a high-traffic sim, I'd say losing (or seriously cutting back on) the dolphins would be your best bet.

The sim looks pretty happy to me but I am the only one here. It is a beautiful area, that is why I wasn't happy about the graffiti on my buildings. There is hardly ever anybody there. Lag is not the issue. They had removed the graffiti and other junk. He replaced it with a shield of trees and shrubbery. I guess it could be worse. Being a good neighbor, I decided to remove the offending objects. They were a couple of mega prims I created just playing around with lighting. No way they could be causing lag way up there (1800M.) He had to go looking for something to complain about. Looking around, I see several places where his prims encroach upon my parcel, including tree limbs in my lighthouse. I guess I could complain, but I think I will just let this sit for a while. He says he lost his RL father a couple of days ago. Maybe that has a lot to do with it. I decided to set up a display of snapshots showing how it used to look, both before and after the graffiti. Anybody can stop by and check it out if you wish. Freswick Community Center, Freswick (74, 183, 40) I'm thinking of putting the one parcel up for sale. Does L$50,000 for a 512m2 parcel sound unreasonable enough?

Considering there is a 512 near me that is set at L$70,000, maybe not. However, if you do use that tactic, do not put up ban lines or place any objects at all on the parcel and make sure auto-return is turned on. The last thing you want is for this guy to file an AR on you under the new mainland cleanup policy or otherwise give the appearance of an extortion attempt.

putting it at that price might give him fuel for any harrasment/extortion ars he might send in

It looks to me like you've got about a 1 and half meters more room on the other side of your urban decay neighbor. If there's a way to move the lighthouse about a meter eastward, she could not put graffitti on your walls. The tree barrier looks nice though -- actual trees instead of one of those flat shields with a photograph on it. I actually think the transistion between well ekpt and urban decay works pretty well. Give credulity to the sim.

Unless they're heavily scripted or you've got lots of physical objects up there too, megaprims up at 1800m won't cause any lag. From: Mjolnir Uriza putting it at that price might give him fuel for any harrasment/extortion ars he might send in I don't think so. This build covers most of the region - chopping off one small bit and putting it at a "I'm not overly interested in selling but will talk if you've got a big bag of cash" price isn't extortion. Putting up graffiti on the OPs buildings might be harrasment, though. If they did that again, I'd be very tempted to AR them.

Freswick is a beautiful sim for sure. The sim owner used to let us squat there for free before we found a place of our own. I think I have visited your light house in the past actually.
