bots for models

I am clueless where to even start looking or how they work.

Does anyone know anything about these bots that ppl use for models, where to get them, how they work etc?

I have been thinking about putting in some models in my store, and I can not afford to pay campers to do it (I know some ppl will do it just for the clothes) but I am a control freak, so with bots I would control what they wear and when they are there.

I have seen this at other stores... they have a flip title that says they are a bot...

is it just a reg alt running on reg sl?

any info appreciated.

Thanks

Uhm.. just make a new account, open it up with SLeek and sit them on the 'display object' using that? Seems like it would work and not use up TOO many computer resources...

(I know it works cause at the moment Keira is lying in her kitty bed in her house while I'm on SLeek)

It's a low-resource client (I use it at school) that has no visuals, but allows you to chat, search for profiles, sit and interact with things nearby by name, and things of that sort.

To do this one in particular, you could easily use your main account to send a TP to the SLeek alt, and then go to the 'objects' window in SLeek and find the display object, then select 'sit on'

From their website..

"SLeek is an open-source (BSD-style license), relatively lightweight client for Linden Lab’s Second Life virtual world. It allows you to perform basic in-world tasks such as chatting, IM, viewing Inventory, viewing Profiles, and more. It can be useful especially for lower-power computers, or if you only need the basic functionality of SL at the moment.

SLeek is currently in alpha status. Bugs may happen! :)"

I have used SLeek before. It seemed that my bots were always ruthed to me when I logged in using the regular client.

I haven't used SLeek but I have played with libSL and home-made clients. In the version of libSL that I have, you cannot change system clothes as there isn't support for 'baking' textures.. you can log in with a regular client, dress your alt up in whatever outfit you like, then log out, then have the alt logged in via the libSL-based interface, and there's a command to make it grab the previously baked texture -- this way the bot does not appear ruthed. But it wasn't possible to have it change clothes on a preprogrammed way... at least not in the version I've got. I understand there's a newer libSL version, so they may have addressed that by now.

If baking textures is possible, then you could make an interactive display model bot, where the bot stands on a pose-stand and customers could select outfits from a menu for instance, and the bot would change clothes to model the desired outfit...

oooh.. I hadn't thought about this. I've no idea if with SLeek you can successfully change clothes, haven't tried it...

However, that would definitely be a really good prospect.

I use sleek all the time for when I just need to mug my alt for money and don't feel like logging out or starting up the regular client twice. She always looks normal to me.

Just log in the alt in the regular client first, dress them etc...log out.
Then log them in with sleek,in the object tab search for the posing/display stand and choose sit on. make sure you get the exact name of the posing stand because sleek shows you objects ALL around you, even over 100M away.

looks like sleek might be the way to go, worth a try at least.

my laptop can not handle more than one instance of SL at a time, hopefully it can handle at least 2 of sleek, then I can put 2 bots in

I got a pm regarding bots that I can also check into
I thought it would be easier than this LOL

lol...well..here's a reference for how much resources SLeek takes..

I'm on a school computer that slows down quite a bit when I use GMail's non-superbasic version if i have more than one other tab open.

With SLeek and firefox open(4 tabs), I am having no slow-down.
