Ever since two updates ago or so, I've had dramatically reduced FPS while using SLVoice, to the point where it's not even playable.
I'm running a fairly high end computer, I get 30+ FPS in most situations, but the moment I toggle SLVoice on, it drops to 1.2-1.5 FPS. My computer is not forcing, both CPU cores are running under 10%, and my video card is the same. RAM usage doesn't increase by much either. I'm at a bit of a loss.
Currently running an AMD X2 6200+, 3gb DDR800, ATI Radeon X1950XTX 512mb GDDR4 with the latest Omega Release Drivers.
I also had this problem on my old system, an AMD Athlon XP 3200+, with 1gb DDR333, and an ATI Radeon X850XT Platinum 256mb, running the latest Warcat drivers (at the time).
Just to clarify a little bit, I remember running SLvoice just fine a few updates ago, then all of a sudden I found that I couldn't log in without getting crazy low FPS, at first I couldn't figure out what it was, I reinstalled SL completely a few times, tried the different clients, until I found that turning of SLVoice fixed it.
I was wondering if anyone has noticed a similar performance drop? And if they perhaps have found a fix for it? I know my system can easily handle SLVoice, because I used to run it fine on my old computer.

(bump.) I don't use voice myself, so I can only guess. I suppose the most likely culprit here would be something network related. It doesn't use that much bandwidth but voice is pretty de-coupled from everything else, except for a few GUI doo-dads. On the other hand, network lag "feels" pretty different from other kinds of problems so... hope somebody has an idea. In the meantime you could reboot the router just for kicks.

It's really not network lag, or bandwith related, it's really -only- my FPS that drops, and it drops to ~1.5 regardless of if I'm 700m up in an empty sim, or in a busy mall, it's very strange. Plus, I've just moved into a new place two weeks ago, and had the problem before that =/
Thanks for the input, I'm at a bit of a loss here.

I've noticed similar problems. I have only recently started using voice and it does seem to slow me down quite a bit. I have very low fps anyway (~1.5fps is good for me), but sometimes I can barely move if using voice in a public place. Even if i am just listening and not speaking. It seems to vary from day to day though.

go onto the task manager if youre using windows and kill the task SLvoice.exe while running the game. it should restart on its own, if not, go into preferences, disabled voice chat, hit apply then re-enable voice chat then hit apply. this solution works for me if the viewer has been open and running for a few hours it starts to eat up CPU cycles affecting the FPS. also restarting the viewer will have the same effect, but this is quicker. based on what you posted, i dont think this solution will work for you, but i posted anyway.

Check Your Router

From: PattehPh0x Katsu Ever since two updates ago or so, I've had dramatically reduced FPS while using SLVoice, to the point where it's not even playable. I spent two very frustrating months with voice - 3GB RAM, 512MB video RAM, 20MBit connection and all graphic options on full when playing normally, great response times. Turning on voice I was down to more or less what you're getting... Eventually it occurred to me to try swapping out the router and I shot up to good speed again, with crystal clear voice. Might be worth considering... DG

You're saying a bandwith issue dropped your FPS? I'll try connecting directly to the modem to see if that makes any difference, though I doubt that's the case because I bought a new router when I moved =( I'll definitely try it out though. Thanks
Killing the task and restarting it has no effect, I've had this same problem between two computers.

Anyway, I tried to plug my computer directly into the modem, and the effect is the same, I find this very odd because everything I have is better than what I was using before (cpu, ram, vid card, internet connection) yet the problem persists. I'm more and more convinced that it's simply a conflicting driver issue on my system. Thank you all for your input.

I tried to traceroute the IPs LL lists in the support portal for the voice servers, and got this result from all of the, as you can see, the first hop after my router times out, even with all firewalls off and my router set up to use the computer I'm trying to use for voice on DMZ mode (all ports open).
This is really a frustrating problem, and I'm surprised at how rare it seems to be.

Other computers using the same router work fine, however this one does not, it won't even work with testyourvoip.com

Your forgetting location and the number of agents in a simulator. That too is a majpr factor......In low population areas I say this might be the idea location. But in high population and loads simulators.......

It makes no difference if the area is populated or not unfortunately, it's massive lag (both network and fps) and no voice functionality.
I've finally (sort of) figured out what my problem is, my computer can't initiate a connection using SIP for some reason, knowing it's not my router/firewall or ISP means it's something on my computer, though as of right now, I'm unsure what it is.
