The owner of the sim I own land on just informed me that he's selling it. He's been very cool all along and I guess it's due to VAT.....but regardless...he assured me the buyer wants to maintain it as is and also instructed me to cancel my tier payments for now, until the new owner has it set up. He felt there would be no problems for any of us who 'live' there already.
My question is.....how does this apply to the current land owners on the sim? I have 3 plots....which I love and intend to keep.....so I'm guessing it will all just roll over to the new owners account. But.... how does that work? My concern is that in the process of changing hands.....if the new owner changes the name and so on.....then all of us who currently own would suddenly be cancelled out, so to speak....?? If the group changes....
Can someone explain how this kind of transaction translates to those who own individual parcels on a sim that's changing hands? I just want to understand..... and hopefully I wont log on one day to find all my stuf gone. LOL If so.....well....looks like it's land shopping I go (any excuse to redecorate right lol)

Basically its all in the hands of the new owner. If they continue the agreements or decide to return the entire island, you are at their mercy. Hopefully the new owner of your island does in fact want to keep it as is and you won't have anything to worry about.
Landmarks may be broken if they change the name or location, btw.

I believe the answer to this is that there are no assurances whatsoever. If you are just paying tier, and didn't pay a huge cash outlay for your plots, then you don't have a lot to lose aside from the surroundings you're happy with.
If VAT ruined the profit margin for the previous owner, and a non-Euro buyer is taking it over, then maybe he'll have an incentive to keep all of you good customers around. That's pure speculation, so I'd say you've got the right attitude to think of it as an opportunity to redecorate, and then be pleasantly surprised if the new sim owner turns out to be good.

Ok..... pretty much what I figured. I hope the new owner has some consideration for us pion parcel owners....but if not.... I wont freak out too much (but the land was extremely cheap which was the ONLY reason I bought it intially, so it would be a loss to have to find new plots) Personally...I think he/she would be crazy to boot us all and start from scratch if in fact, they intend to keep it a residential sim. At this point they are getting land with rent coming in and I'd think any buyer would consider that a perk. *keeping my fingers crossed*

I recently acquired an island where residents were peacefully minding there business. After the transfer, EVERYTHING was put in my name including each of their parcels. Some of the parcels were set to autoreturn already and many items were returned to their owners. I logged in to find an angry mob waiting (well not so angry...they are all very nice and pleasant people ) To solve the problem, I requested a rollback to about an hour or so "before" the transfer. The island was still in my name but all the parcels were back in theor owners name's. The parcels that were not sold were still in the old owners name so I had to reclaim those and set them for sale again. That's just my 2 cents...just sharing my story hoping you may benefit from it in the future if you experience this issue. Maddy

I recently acquired an island as well, and the whole transition went completely smooth - not a prim lost. You are right that it is unlikely that the new owner would want to lose the business of all existing tenants. I would anticipate that all will be well.
In my case, the tenants i acquired with the island, had to adjust a bit to my new covenant, but it didn't seem to be a major obstacle, and I only lost one tenant who didn't want to conform to the new covenant. I have since quickly filled most of the island and all is well, and everyone seems to be very happy under my new ownership of the island.
By the way - I contacted each tenant prior to the island transfer to my ownership, just to alleviate any concerns. Perhaps you can get in touch with the soon to be new owner as well. If you can learn their plans, perhaps you can share this information with the other residents of your sim...

I owned land on a sim that was sold, and after the transfer the parcels I owned there and my two houses were still very much in my name. If the new owner and old owner handle it well, there should be very little disruption.

I talked to a couple of my neighbors who are staying, last night, and we are all just sort of hoping for the best. Thus far, no sim transfer yet but it's coming....perhaps when I log in today I'll find out more.... I only have my shop to lose potentially....so I stpped work on it for now until I find out from the new owner whether it's acceptable or not.

Just a thought ........ couldn't you just contact the new owner and ask them what their plans are? Maybe if you and your neighbours got together and sent the new owner a notecard explaining your concerns and asking about their plans, your minds could be put at ease and they would also be aware of the fact that you all care about the place.

Hi Sally...
yes, indeed I plan to....once I find out who the new owner is! LOL The current owner did not offer me any names and thus far the transaction has not happened....so I have no way of knowing who's buying. If it hasn't happened today when I log in....I'm going to try and find out the name. It would definitely set my mind at ease to be able to talk to this person.
