I have a Toshiba computer and I cannot access second life. I was told there is no way to download a video card for Toshibas. Is this true? How can I get second life on my toshiba. I can't afford to buy another computer.

I was told there is no way to download a video card for Toshibas Absolutely true. Video cards are literally cards. Physical, real objects that you plug into a port on/in the computer. It's not currently possible to download solid objects, unless we've made some awesome technological advancements that I'm unaware of. You can, however, download drivers for them. Your system does not have a video card, it has an integrated graphics chip, the Intel GMA 4500MHD. To find the newest drivers for your system, go to: http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm Download the newest drivers, and try again. It's also possible that SL isn't compatible with that particular chipset. If it's still not running, then come back, and maybe someone will know more about your computer. _____________________

Heck, I'm still imagining Wonkavision. As long as it's the Gene Wilder version, not the Jonny Depp version. That was one gawd awful remake. There weren't even any snozzberries in it, for crying out loud! _____________________

Personally, I rather liked it... not as a remake, but as a separate entity. It was childish, but entertaining, in a good way (In my opinion). And, though I haven't read it (yet), it was apparently more loyal to the book. Or something. _____________________

That's not useful for sending solid objects any more than a fax machine is. It's just a printer, making a copy of data in 3d form. _____________________

Looking at the minimum requirements for running SL, the only inegrated graphics chip that is supported is the Intel 945.
Which leads me to believe that updating the graphics driver on your Toshiba might not help, but it's worth a try! |

When you say "cannot access Second Life", what do you mean exactly? What happens when you try to log in?
Have you set up a Second Life account? Have you downloaded the Second Life software? How are you connecting to the internet? You need a high speed internet connection, either DSL, cable modem, or FIOS. Wireless internet does not work reliably with SL. Other than that, check to see that you have installed the latest video drivers for your machine, as others have suggested. _____________________
