So I go to download SL on my dad's computer, right? Here's the message I get:
209.84.2.126:80->192.168.159.130:1686 Download request is dropped due to exceeding max content size.
So then I figure maybe it's because he's running IE7. So I try to download IE8, get the same message.
Try to download Firefox, and all of IE7 just crashes on me.
What gives? Is his lame DSL bandwidth throttled? Is there some sort of setting somewhere that I can change?

Maybe try google chrome and grab FireFox that way??
That does sound like a weird problem from the ISP.

This message "Download request is dropped due to exceeding max content size" was possibly generated by your antivirus scanner. Either change the AV scanner settings, or temporarily disable AV scanning to download the large file.

Yeah my dad's puter is running Norton, which as far as I can tell, sucks the life out of his whole system. If I disable Norton, though, IE7 crashes when I try to do anything at all. I finally did get Firefox downloaded, via some trickery, and am running it now. I don't think I'll even bother with SL itself. Too much hassle. Thanks though, for the info. [Edit: Thanks, Briana, for the Chrome tip. I might stick that on my home computer. Looks neat.]
