SHOUT objects - restricted by 'spatialized sounds' setting?

Hi - I just want to know whether an object which shouts a message can be heard on neighbouring land (not owned by me) if I check the 'restrict spatialized sounds to this parcel' box in the 'about land' settings. I DON"T want any shouty stuff bothering my neighbours!!

Thx!

Unfortunately, there's no controlling "shouting" chat: it's gonna go 100m in all directions, even crossing sim borders. Spatialized sound is something different: the audio that objects emit, or that you get from gestures, for example.

Yes, but to (about) 20m, instead of 100. "Whisper" goes about 10m. Depending on the object's use, it may be better scripted to use llInstantMessage to the avatar(s) with which it's trying to communicate.

ok thx - does that 20m include sim borders?

I can only set the object to shout or say unfortunately

(and are these distances - 100 or 20 etc. in all directions - ie. up and down as well?)

Yeah, all directions from the point of origin, so yes, if it's within 20m of a sim border, it will cross that, too.

man, that was one hell of brainbreaking - trying to mute a chiming glowing light inside a glass cylinder of a buoy...

Muting the owner of the object mutes all sounds/chats/and inventory offers (and I think particles?) from any of their objects as well.

Whisper goes 10m? I didn't know that - I thought that it just whispered to the avatar interacting.

/me goes back to the scripting 101
