Will it dampen your SL fun and mean you spend less time on over the holidays? I seem to recall a dramatic slump in the number of users logging on last year.

I have already had it made very very clear that I am not to even consider opening SL over Xmas and Boxing Day.

Will it dampen my fun? Actually no, but it will probably make me miss my (also in absentia) loved ones even more.

I am not anticipating fun. I am anticipating being comatose!!

Yep... I'm leaving Barcelona during 2 weeks to go to my parents (it's in a Spanish Island). But hey, at least I have internet there, so I would be less hours than now, but would be able to live my SL Xmas Holidays too ;)

The Asti would be flat by the time it gets to you sweetie, but I'll raise a glass for you :)

I might hire a place actually, in a snow sim, because I know I can reliably have SOME time on Xmas Eve with my beloved before the driving and the wassailing starts. Well, I might be pissed as a fart already by that time :)

I am going to be alone during the long weekend of the holidays. (This is not a sad thing - at least for me!) So I really will have a silent night, holy night where all is calm.

I'm sure I'll log in a bit, and if there are very few others to be found -- well, that's normal anyway. I hope to use the calm to complete some RL artwork, listen to quiet baroque and classical music, read a good book. I'm so looking forward to it.

Don't like xmas, but well, they are important for my fiancée (we were engaged two days ago :D ) and also for family, so I got my ticket for the 25th, that way I can be in SL with my beloved on Xmas Eve, and then on Xmas day will try to be with family, then will come back to SL :)

Weston, to be honest, I would love to be alone on xmas, without family, without ppl at home (I share flat with flatmates), buuuuut ya know, have family obligations... It would be different if I were living near them and being able to see them often, but that's not the case, so I have to take a plane and at least be with them on holidays. Uhm... dunno why I am complaining, at least I will be able to eat home made meals :D

Cherry, you and your beloved are invited to take some champagne if you want to :P Happy xmas! :P hehe

PS: Sorry for my bad and borken Eglish :S

Starting today actually, the Holiday Activities will be limiting my SL time. I have to start shopping, buy a tree, and get the house cleaned up for relatives who will be arriving next weekend. They've never been to New York, so I will be chauffering them about, playing tour guide for at least a couple of days.

Relatives won't be visiting me, I'll be visiting them. Being incredibly lazy, this suits me fine, but it does mean less SL time. I won't be away for more than a day at a time, so I'll still drop in most days, just not for as long.

Last year, I logged in Xmas morning (UK time, so middle of the night SLT) and the grid was pretty much deserted. I can't be certain, but fewer than 3000 people? Obviously that'd be a quiet time anyway, and 15K concurrent was about the limit back then anyway, IIRC.

Invite relatives for Christmas? What a very odd idea. I'm inviting friends. I got to choose them at least. They also buy better presents and bring much better wine.

i'm going to plant hundreds of campers in SL and leave for the day, and see if one can 'really' make money that way.

Since I made my first BIG money in my life at 16, I have always spent my real christmas in a hotel far away from noise and bustle. With my own gifts and a fantastic maitre d'. I'll watch movies, listen to music, open my gifts I want to receive (that I bought for myself), eat lobster and oysters, drink San Pellagrino till I burst and maybe visit SL. I work Christmas Eve and Boxing Day and so this is one day all mine. I will phone relatives. As I say, Christmas MAY be spent on sl for an hour or so - no lag - perfect!

No, thank God. I love my relatives, but, well, you know, they're relatives.

We always spend Christmas Eve at relatives, and stay over - so, no computers for sure. And I won't miss it at all.

And, Christmas Day is thrown by yours truly and I'm far too busy to think about it, let alone how rude it would be to sneak off as the relatives are sitting around enjoying my meal. Let alone for days leading into it. Even now, it's getting dicey being able to get in. Then, heading off to Bermuda for a nice New Year's Break, so will be too busy packing and hoping clothing fits.

For all I know, my SL house could be run over by Santa's elves, drunken griefers, homeless newbies, or whatever else by the time I actually can log on after Christmas. Anyone want to house sit for a week or so?

If I was going to Bermuda I doubt I'd be TOO concerned about SL!
