hi all!! :) i have developed a new script for my product packaging, but wish first for ops and feedback from customers and sellers alike... it has (completely optional) functionality to email receipts to the seller upon product rezz and product unpacking.

pardon the all-caps, but just to make sure so you see:)
THIS HAS NOT BEEN ROLLED OUT TO MY CURRENT INVENTORY :)
i am first eagerly awaiting community feedback about it.

some reasons for doing so may be obvious... grid occassionally eating deliveries, the random conjob call. ;) i just don't wish to roll this out, though, if the community as a whole would feel this to be a negative intrusion upon 'marketplace protocol'.

spamming i don't think would really be the ish - if one wishes (and i don't), one could make enough of a spamlist just from point-of-sale easily enough. location comes along with the email messages, but i wouldn't know how that information could be misused...

anyhow, my own purposes are only for 'quality assurance', but i wonder what you think??

If you described it, it might help... ;) Actually it sounds interesting. What exactly does it do?

How are you getting their e-mail adress?

hehe nono, the script holds -my- email address, and emails me a notice when 1) the package is rezzed (pulled from inventory), and 2) the package is unpacked.

i get the customer's name (avatar/inworld name, of course:), the product received, and (just part of lsl's email formatting, i've no need for it) the location of the prim package.

oh. I wouldn`t want someone knowing when I opened something *i* bought, and where I opened it.

I'd rather the script wrote to an excel or scalc file... I wouldn't want 25 + emails popping up every day. I'd rather it wrote to a file that I could collect once a week, or it could email me once a week or something.

Location would be unimportant. I would just want to know if a customer actually RECEIVED the box. Not sure about unpacking... maybe, maybe not.

on that note, I suppose a wearable item could have a hidden script that records conversation, purchases, other private information, possibly?

If you're selling NC/T items, you'd still have to deal with the situation where someone rezzes the item on no-script land, unpacks it and then comes back to you for a replacement.

Oh! And you know what else would be great? Is if the script could check the status of the receiving avatar; if he/she is set to busy, record that in the excel file as well, so I would know WHY it didn't get delivered...

yah - that and potentially a few other ways around it triggering - nothing's perfect. ;)

jesseaitui, lol - sarcasm check;) are you tongue-in-cheekly saying that?

As long as you're aware of the edge cases it's all good though :).

No, lol. it wasn`t sarcastic. I wouldn`t want someone to know when I opened something, and definitely not the location.

ohh, it could be 'any way ya want it', i just wrote it for email 'cuz i don't mind email for temporary records. (i only keep ten days worth or so of vendor receipts just for recent customer requests, then there's 30 days in sl account history)

hehe okay, thank you. ;) i wanted to be sure i didn't misread - it's friday and i'm blurry from the week's work as is, lol :)

p.s. btw, i don't think i mentioned this, but these notification emails are once-only, first time use. and also, i want to be clear that these scripts are only in the packed-up delivery package, and not in any unpacked product itself (as far as my gadgetry - can't include scripts in cloths, yet;)...
