Can't see water at times

I made a greek pool and I put in the water. But when I look at it from different angles, it looks like the water isn't there. Or it looks like it's in one spot but not the other. I spinned the camera around it but in some instances I can see the water but not in others and it looks real messed up.

Any tips on how this can be fixed or is it the texture thats no good?

Thanks for any help

I put this in the texture forums but over this way it seems there's lot more people and I can get a quicker response.

Bump.

Is this the alpha texture bug?

I once was working on a simple building that had a couple of prim columns disapper from certain angles, and there were no alpha textures that I was aware of. The prims behind them showed up in front of them no matter what I did or where I rezzed the thing. It would have been cool if I was going for an M.C. Escher look, but it was just wrong.

I finally abandoned the project becasue a problem is only fun if it can be solved. I hope someone can help resolve yours.

Thanks

Actually, I just noticed it's the entire build inside the pool. I took out the water but the same thing is happening to the bottom floor and the 2 steps it has. At certain angles it can't be seen and at others it can.

I know what a Greek urns{about 200 euro a week} but don't know about a Greek pool !!!

But to your question its going to be an alpha problem.I find that perhaps darkening the color or playing with the transparency controls can help. Also some stock water textures are better than others perhaps try another. The speed of the tex animation also might affect it .

Is your pool made of marble by any chance?

At some point years ago, someone who didn't know any better uploaded several marble textures as 32-bit TGAs which have made their ways into a bazillion freebie texture packs and other places. These textures, although not having any transparency to them, cause the same problems as transparent textures in a build - they make other nearby objects with alpha (or with more flawed marble textures) flicker in and out of visibility.

Even if it's not one of the marble textures I have in mind, it might very well be a similar phenomenon. Try texturing your pool with something else and see if the problem goes away. If it works but you want to use your current texture AND you have the texture with full perms, you can save it to your computer, remove the alpha channel with a suitable graphics program, and re-upload the thing correctly.

It is a marble texture. I'll switch up and try a different one then.

Thanks for your help

there is another way now too, by using a script that places the UUID of the texture onto the prim rather than dragging the texture on or by selecting it in edit, for some reason it copes very well with alpha texture bug.

I reimported the marble pack as 24-bit a while ago. If you'd like a new fixed set, just IM me and I'll send you the folder next time I'm inworld.
