«Login failed. Your account has been disabled. Please go to www.secondlife.com to renew your account»

I am the reference contact for all employees in my company about SL. A lot of our employees have received the message above when they created their account and then tried to access SL. Also my wife got it, after registering to SL from our home LAN.

In ALL cases

1. they cannot recreate the account since the name is reserved
2. they cannot login SL by using that account
3. they cannot even login SL Web Site by that account
4. they have no idea how to renew (???) the account since no login is possible in web site
5. they are really angry! (included my wife, who is the most important)

Any help appreciated.

That's the hallmark of a HASH ban, isn't it? Ie. A physical computer can no longer be used with SL, no matter which account you use to login, because they're blocking it at system (not avatar) level, based on the system HASH.

I thought this kind of thing only happened after a number of abuse incidents. You're gonna have to raise a support ticket to figure out what's going on. :(

Go to the Support page and log into the Support Portal as a guest...that option only requires a valid email address. Then submit a support ticket, being sure to use the 'Special Questions' ticket type, else it won't be responded to. Alternatively, call one of the numbers listed on the main Support Portal page.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Try this first............

If you have an issue with your account (non-technical, billing/password/etc), you can call our Billing team at: toll-free (US/Canada) 800-294-1067 or long-distance (not free) 703-286-6277. They're available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Hope this helps...........................................

But why would they hash banned him and the other accounts? Unless there is some kind of abuse report on him?

Email support at Linden Labs. indeed - that should be the message that LL give you - an email contact to resolve the issue, rather than just a link to the website.

If you havn't done anything wrong and your PC is second hand then the previous owner could have bee hash banned, must have done something pretty bad. Anyway there is an opensource viewer that randomizes your MAC address (the hash address is only that of the network card, not your actual PC) called ShoopedLife, DO NOT use it if you are actually banned tho or else.

Otherwise you can just simply change the network card (if its s built in one, but a PCI one from ur local computer shop), that will fix the problem.

But if u are genuinly hash banned and are caught using SL all of your freinds could be barred from using SL aswell, so think about it carefully

I did.... The problem is that I cannot do it FOR EVERY PERSON IN COMPANY with that problem! They have to find another way to identify people. Linking account to HW or to IP address is meaningless today.

First of all it's not me. I have no problems with my account :-) I am the "expert" of the company, that is the guy to call when something is wrong :(

By the way, ALL of them have never entered Second Life. The problem occurs JUST AFTER registration. They are all newbies to SL.

I do not understand this statement. Again: I was not banned, and the problem occurs ONLY to newcomers. And I am not speaking of friends, but people belonging to the same company (a large one, by the way >50000 employees). I suspect they use some parameter that is related to company proxies and think all requests are from the same person!

This being Resident Answers, what else can Residents tell you other than to call/use the support channels? Put in a ticket and go to live chat if you can.

If your system is hash banned, I suppose it's possible that every single account you try to login with on that system gets banned.

my guess would be automatic ban based in the account abuse code...

how many accounts log in from your IP? with what frequency? if it looks like bot abuse to LL's system they may have flagged it for that reason. in which case you need to talk to them like everyone has already told you, and explain the circumstances (example: many people use your IP as a gateway). that is going to be the ONLY solution
