Full Bright Glare ... Sunglasses Don't Help

I have a problem with full bright objects being so bright and so white that I cannot see them. This means most of the vendors and a good many buildings are so bright I can't buy your stuff. I have fussed with every setting on my monitor, on my graphics card, and in my Second Life preferences with no positive solution.

THEN, low and behold, the September 17 "release candidate" solved the problem completely. I as so HAPPY since this proved it was an SL problem and not a video card problem.

THEN, today the new operating system 1.18.2(0) came out and I dutifully downloaded and installed it ... and guess what ... the glare is back. Thank god it's talk like a pirate day, because I cussed like a sailor.

Any ideas why the release candidate would function perfectly, but the latest download does not? Do they turn off the full brights in the release candidate? Is there any way at all to over ride the full bright option? I hope one of you knows the answers. Thanks!

Sorry, can't really answer your question, but a suggestion: you might try using World > Force Sun to set the time of day to Sunset or Midnight as a temporary fix until you get an answer?

Both, 1.18.2.1 and 1.18.3.4, use different files in which they store their settings. So by using the 1.18.3.4 client, you created a new setting file in which (as i assume) lightsources as fullbright arent set to use "renderglow = true" (thats at the client debug settings). Another possibility is, that you set the gamma value too high (or in this case, too low, cause a lower value means "brighter" here).
Anyways, it's one of your settings. If you cant fix it with the ideas i had, try to uninstall the 1.18.2.1 client, reinstalling it afterwards.

Woo hoo! Maybe I'm the only one in the history of the world to need to turn the full brights off, but THANK YOU Asriazh Frye! I debugged the render glows and set them to false and now I can see again. No more sunglasses for me! Thanks!
