Help, fellow BusyBodies: How to productively abandon 16 sq.m. plots?

A while back, in a fit of civic-mindedness (and no doubt offending the neo-Lib crypto-Anarchist aesthetic of many SL residents), I bought up a few ad-plots. I've found productive homes for a few of them with neighboring parcels that could squeeze a few sq.m. within tier for the extra prims (sometimes after I explained the Group Land tier bonus). But I still have a few cluttering up the My Land list. They're all prim-full of Linden plants and Clocktower network sensors, so they're safe enough as-is, but I'd kinda like to "clean house."

Does anyone know, definitively, what would happen if I Abandoned the parcels to Governor Linden? Would they just pop back up as ad plots, or would the Gov paint them that pretty purple color in perpetuity?

I have done just that 6 months ago and the plots are still governor Linden's. LL doesn't have time to chase after every tiny plots and put them up for auction...

you could give them to the arbour project.
I believe their aim is to keep trees on small plots and stop ads getting on them.
If thats true they may also appreciate people who donate tier to their group.

Anyone have more info on them?

Hehehe... remember I mentioned that Clocktower probe? I just wouldn't want to be liable for any injury you might sustain--those banline particles can sting, ya know! :p

Rocketman, most grateful for your offer... will make one last pass trying to find "locals" on the premise the 3 prims might actually be of some use to them, then will send Itchy a list of what's left.

Oh... I'd love to donate to the Arbor Project, but I'd guess they probably need tier a lot more than they need parcels, and tier is what I'm short on at the moment.

You may want to get in touch with Arbor Project because your avatar is banned on Arbor plots.

just hit 'abandon land' or contact arbor and set it for sale to the leader of the group for 1L and they will hold on to it, many ppl donate tier to arbor

or ask the ppl who live near them if they want them

Abandon'ing to Linden is prolly your best bet, make sure you set build off before you abandon it cuz that stuff wont change for years

Biggest worry is that LL land can get cluttered up if they don't set the initial permissions right- so before you abandon (if you do) be sure to set to no build, no auto return and use the full prim allotment on Linden plants. I can't get them to sell me the 256 that got abandoned a while back near me, but at least it's clean. Had to AR it through because some numbnuts put up 16 spinners on it. I think they wait for 512s to auction off.

I have right at 512sqm in my sim that's tied up in ad plots along the road- I connected them all (even though some are nearly a quarter of a sim away from each other) and gave it it's own description/name (Svavarsson Restoration Project/Selling only to end users. IM for details) and called it done. I use the extra prims beyond the LL trees for my shop. ^.^

I was unaware of the Arbor Project at the time and needed to offload 16sqm so released it to LL. They have done nothing with it so touch wood, it will stay that way.

Actually, looking at the group Land tab right now, it looks like the arbor project has plenty of tier available (5606 sq m) and could use the land.

The Lindens will completely ignore abandoned 16s. They just don't have the time to deal with those. If you abandon 16s, please make sure you uncheck the Create Objects tab, and set the autoreturn to 1. Otherwise it'll become another dump.

Apologies for coming in on this discussion so late, but i've got 400sqm in land that has been joined from these 16sqm lots. Is it equally reasonable to assume LL will not bother with it? or should I split it down *before* abandoning these lots?

If you're asking me, I'd say to split the parcel into 16s before you abandon them to maximize your chances that LL will ignore them. But then, I know of a 4096 parcel that was abandoned to Governor Linden a couple of months ago on one of my neighboring sims, and is still sitting there empty.

Doesn't this hurt the value of the land around it though, even if abandoned? If I was land shopping and saw a nice plot and right next door a parcel all chopped to bits and held by Gov linden I don't think I would even consider buying it.

A neighbor recently sliced off thin strips of her land surrounding one of my parcels and abandoned them to save tier. I am so worried that they will get dropped on the market or go to auction and I won't get them that I am considering selling land while it still looks pristine. Do these parcels ever come back on the market? If not, what a great way to buy a little buffer space around yourself and not have to pay tier on it.
