How to fix irregular parcel boundary?

Land recently purchased has an irregular boundary in one corner where my parcel is "interlaced" with that of my neighbor. Instead of a staight line, the boundary makes a 90deg left turn, a 90deg right, another 90 right, a 90 left, another 90 left, etc. My neighbor and I are in agreement as to resolution - I subdivide my irregular parcels and sell them to her. I tried to subdivide using "edit terrain" but nothing happened.

1. Is subdivide the correct way to resolve the irregular boundaries?

2. Is there a minimum parcel size for subdivision?

3. Will any change in parcel size be reflected in the tier limits?

4. Is there another solution?

Thanks.

1. Is subdivide the correct way to resolve the irregular boundaries? YUP!

2. Is there a minimum parcel size for subdivision?

I believe it is 16 sqm...

3. Will any change in parcel size be reflected in the tier limits?

Yes, you are charged monthly based on the maximum amount of land you owned that month. If that little parcel puts you over your current tier level, you will bump up to the next tier.

4. Is there another solution?

Not really.

To subdivide land you need to drag your cursor to select the part you want to subdivide. You will see a box around the new parcel perimeters. Once you have the new parcels correct, then you hit the subdivide button.

There is a work-around that might help.
  1. Form a group. This costs L$100. If either of you already own a group, you may use that group instead.

  2. Invite your neighbor into the group.
  3. Parcel out your land, as described above.

  4. Deed to the group the portion of your land that you want to trade to your neighbor, being sure that "owner contributes tier with land" is checked. [Not sure exactly what the option is called; you may have to search for it, but it will be there.]
  5. Have your neighbor do steps 3 & 4 with her land.
  6. Set the parcels to sale for for free, being sure that your parcel is saleable only to her, and hers only to you.
  7. Withdraw tier from the group. Have your neighbor do the same.
  8. Within seven days [very important!] of step 7, buy your

neighbor`s land from the group, and have your neighbor buy yours from the group.

  9. Done. You may now disband the group, if you like.

Actually, it has been my experience that dragging your cursor to make a box around the whole area won't select it if it includes land you don't own.

If the land you want to subdivide is irregularly shaped and overlaps property you don't own, you will have to select and subdivide it in strips. You can then join those strips into one parcel to make it easier to transfer to your neighbor.

For example it the land you want to subdivide looks a little like this, with each [ ] representing 16 sm:

[ ]
[ ][ ]
[ ][ ][ ]

You will have to select it in strips such as this

[ ]

[ ][ ]

[ ][ ][ ]

Select, then subdivide each strip, then join them all together into one triangular parcel.

One caution, if you or your neighbor are already at your maximum tier, and either if you exceed it in the process of making this land swap, you will be charged the entire amount for the tier increase on your next tier increase, even if you only owned 16 sm too much for only 30 seconds.

Um, if that is a repeating 4M stairstep along an angled boundry line, you can NOT fix it.

The smallest parcel size is 4M x 4M. That's a 16 M2 parcel. If your boundry lines are rectangular, and are aligned North to South or West to East, you get a nice smooth line. But let's say you take a 32 M x 32 M parcel and try to divide that into two triangles...

The outer edges remain straight, but the 45 degree angled boundry becomes a stair-step in 4 M increments. There is no way to make that a straight line.
