This is what i am talking about: http://www.3dconnexion.com/3dmouse/spacenavigator.php

Is anyone using one of these? I just got mine today and am having trouble configuring it for SL.

I am using it for SL, Google Sketch-Up and 3DS Max.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've got one but I don't remember it requiring any configuring. What's not working?

I tried it, but using it to walk made me queasy. The slightest motion and I would either zoom into the air or crash into the ground. I didn't have the patience to conquer the learning curve, particularly since I'm left handed but am used to using a right-hand mouse. Those fine motor skills don't come easy.

Torley has a tutorial that gives calibration instructions. Try it and let me know whether to give it another whirl.

I've tried using it for building in SL and I am not getting the behavior i expected.

Maybe i should watch the tutorial. There is definitely a dexterity learning curve, but I am liking it so far. Especially the cool blue glowing ring :)

There's a couple Torley tutorials that may help.

I found it helped a lot to increase the dead zones, and make small changes to the multipliers.

Never could get into editing with it tho.

I'd tell you more, but one of my dogs used it as a chew toy a few weeks ago. *sob*

Hmm...I haven't tried to use it for building. Since you can keep a regular mouse running at the same time, I just use the mouse for stuff that doesn't require fancy camera work. Probably that's lazy and I'm completely missing layers of functionality there. (Totally agreed, it does look cool and science fictiony with that ring!)

I use it for machinima. I change the settings every time I so it does what I want. It's a great tool.
