I have a Logitech Extreme pro joystick and have been trying to get it to work with SL but I can only make my av move forward abit then as soon as I let the joystick go the av returns to its original position. I assume you're not able to walk around using a joystick, is this correct? If it is this really sucks

I assume you're not able to walk around using a joystick, is this correct? If it is this really sucks I use a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro all the time in Second Life. Its super nice for air combat. I used the Profiler to set up a profile where movements mirror arrow strokes, the trigger mirrors the left mouse button (for firing the guns) and the top buttons mirror PgUp and PgDn, which is what Second Life aircraft use as a throttle. I even setup a few of the extra keys to mirror common commands on the aircraft, like "G" for gear up, "F" for flaps up, "Vice On" for the combat system, etc ... The one thing I have never been able to figure out is how to make the high hat on the joystick rotate the camera. It's supposed to work, but I can't manage it. Now for the bad side ... something else I have never been able to figure out. When I first log in to Second Life, the joystick isn't active until I move the stick in a direction. After moving the stick my avatar moves in that direction for about five minutes - I'm assuming that this is the time it takes for the joystick software to load or for Second Life to recognize the stick. After about five minutes (It has occasionally only been one or two minutes, but never more than five) my avatar stops making these undirected moves, and the joystick works perfectly from that time on ... even if I relog. I've sort of managed a work-around by making my first movement of the stick on the diagonal, so that my avatar just walks in little circles until the Joystick and Second Life get things sorted out. Hope that helps.

I use the joy stick on my Logitech Dual Action to move, especially in sword fights. Make sure you have the right driver. Don't rely on what Logitech says to download. Check the Logitech forums. I had problems until I got the right driver. The one Logitech said to download caused problems.
I use buttons to go in and out of mouse view. I have a button for the left mouse button, which I use for thrusts. I also have a button that triggers the alt key. I use this to look around instead of moving. I have no problems at all now.
I'm probably not saying this the correct way.
(I am using the Dual Action with Controller Mate on an iMac.)
