ok, I came back from a weekend in new orleans and when I returned I was prompted by SL there is a new release so I downloaded and installed it, wonderful.. so now everytime I want to sign on SL I get the same prompt and have to reinstall this update! I've done it about 5 times! I've rebooted cleared cache and still i have to reinstall something I already installed. Any ideas???

Which viewer are you talking about?

If you were using First Look (Windlight), did you throw out (uninstal in windows?) the Windlight Viewer? It doesn't exist anymore. The Release Candidate and Windlight are now combined = RC. Use the RC shortcut, not your old Windlight shortcut.

Maybe I can take a guess as to what is happening.... tell me if I got it right :)

You were using the Windlight First Look, and have a shortcut to it on your desktop (or somewhere handy).

You were prompted that the test period is over and you need to go to the Release Candidate. You installed it.

Now, whenever you click on the old shortcut, it tells you you need to upgrade, yes?

The only reason I know about this is because it fooled me....

The RC installs into a different place, a new install folder called "Second Life Release Candidate" and it doesn't uninstall the Windlight First Look. So you keep trying to run the FL, rather than the RC. And it keeps telling you to upgrade....

Go to your Start menu (or whatever you have on a Mac), and see if there is a new entry for the release candidate and try running it from there. If that works (and doesn't give you the message to upgrade) then make a new shortcut. You can uninstall the Windlight First Look, too.

Hope this helps! (I'd like to thank my resident geek for helping me out with this!)
