NEW SL "SEARCH" SUCKS FOR BUSINESSES!

I swear, I feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette with my Second Life business anymore. Previously, I had been in the top four or five pages (without using campers or traffic bots) when someone searched some of my "hot words." Now I can't even FIND my business in the search unless I search directly for my business name. Makes me think customers and potential customers can't find me either.

And my classified ad that I PAY money weekly for? It's not appearing anywhere either when someone searches my "hot words" of low prim. Things like SEX BEDS, PREMIUM SKINS, and other unrelated crap shows up instead. Do ya think my PG ad is showing up when someone searches "Porn" or "SEX BEDS"? Your guess is probably better than mine

Oh, and Friday's Traffic? Used to be about 300-500 on a usual Friday. This week, after new changes to the search? ZERO. Heck, it didn't even count ME as traffic because I was setting up a new store yesterday. Great, huh?

Way to go Lindens. I hope one or a dozen of you are reading. This new search STINKS beyond all things imaginable. I think people would have a better chance finding my store if they parachute in randomly anywhere on the world map while hunting for green-toed ninjets with a heat-seeking device.

I hate this new search method. Has anyone created a better search engine for SL I might want to list with? If not, someone with the skill might think of making one - I bet you'd make a pretty penny on it.

I'm seriously thinking of just closing my SL business... it's a waste of time now that LL has been monkeying with everything from regional ratings to searches. Anyone know of another grid out there that may be more profitable than SL? I'm getting pretty fed up.

apparently the only way to get your status back is to unlink every single prim in your build, falsely label every single prim (your floors, walls and fences and decor) with sexual content, and mark it all to be shown in search.

i haven't done it yet, but i'm going to. *sigh*

i haven't been paying attention or seen many of the changes because my viewer i still get the popular list lol

but what exactly have they done..
i know they did the change with traffic bots but what is it with the keywords?

i've been in sl lately more than in here so i am way behind on the changes made..

they made keywords more valuable in the search engine than picks. and they are catering to adult content.

Traffic of 0 is usually due to an intermittent bug.

That was a short-lived change. It was a fault which they put right soon afterwards.

so then what's the main search criteria now? back to picks?

No, overall the balances have changed, still trying to work it but I think picks now have less value today compared to LL's pre-tinkering days.

It's possible that nobody will ever again be able to figure out the Search ranking formula to any useful level of detail before it changes, as LL tries to make it harder to game by making it variable.

If that were to happen, I'm not sure it would be altogether bad that merchants couldn't predict exactly where their listing will rank from week to week. As with web SEO, there may be general rules that work all the time (e.g., not relying on such ultra-high-frequency terms as "low prim", tricks that work for a while, and other tricks that eventually fail spectacularly.

Same, I just keep checking the threads and once everything calms down a bit, hope to find an answer.
