I've used paypal forever and have been quite happy with them...up until a month ago.

So I made a small deposit but forgot my account I use for "play" money was short a few bucks. It didnt go through so I deposited a bit more so it would. i then tried my debitcard for that account to hopefully speed the deposit up(rent was due, hah). Gave me some card number error. Ok no biggie. So it didnt go through and was shown as cancelled on Paypal.

I do my end of the month billing to make sure my account is correct and I was short the amount I tried to deposit into paypal. I went to my bank to find out where the missing money was. ended up being paypal took it. I asked my bank if they had a fee for failed transfers online and they said no. ok, so its paypal, and got a printout from my bank that showed it.

I contact paypal letting them know they took it but it never showed in my paypla funds. they said they didnt. so i then asked if they had a cancellation fee for deposits gone bad. they dont. so i told them well my bank said it was you that has the money and my bank doesnt have any cancellation fees for online deposits.

back and forth in emails and they keep sennnding me the same send to everyone crap. paypal isnt responsible for bank fees etc etc etc. contact your bank to find out what the issue is.

ummmm either its a idiot(s) that i'm dealing with or they just click the "same typical crap everyone gets button"

i'm not sure what part of "my bank doesnt have cancellation fees for online deposits and their records show youuuuuuu took the money". pretty damn clear in my eyes, right?

so finally i told them to take the typical email they send out and stick it where the sun dont shine, and they had better actually read an understand my emails before my lawyer helps them to understand basic english. after 5 email back and forth i get the same crap. i mean honestly, how dumb can one person be. a 5 year old would understand what i told them. i finally told them they need to contact my ank and work it out wih them seeing as how what i say is going in one ear and out the other, even gave them the address and phone number(just incase they're to stupid to check my account info). that was 3 days ago so i'm hoping this week coming the get it figured it. i saved every email also so if it does come down to hiring professional help, they'll see just how stupid stupid can be.

so anyway. i made another small deposit a few days ago. go to paypal today to check on the date its coming out so i can record it....and its gone! not there, poof.

I mean honestly has Paypal been taken over by a group of morons?

Does anyone else find their service sucks about as bad as it can now?

if you are putting money in and it not there you may want to make sure your account is safe security wise..
i've used them since they came out and never any issues with them..

Check if you dont have any recursive payments in your paypal profile, also you can check every transaction if you choose the date , like 2 month back or a year. One time they hold my money because when i upgrade to bussines account some address whas diferent on my credit card and my registration(i think this is not the case).
Also check your transaction for the last year and the recursive payment just to be sure.

PAYPAL is evil and I hate it with a passion.
thats all I need to say.

I hope they all die a horrible death.
They took $11,000.00 dollars once and locked it away for almost half a year.

I worked in the research department in a bank, most banks have them. It was our job to research failed/lost transactions. When you call, tell the CSR who answers that you want a search done on the funds and a copy of the printout showing the funds being withdrawn from your account to go to paypal. This kind of thing does happen, and maybe the CSR who 'helped' you wasn't being all that helpful.

I can tell you right now, to forget the emails. Most emails are not answered any more. I used to work at PayPal. Call them. The toll free number is 1-888-221-1161. If your bank transferred the money to PayPay, but it's not showing up in your PayPal account, you'll probably have to fax them a copy of your bank statement showing that the money was sent. Either that or get the....shit....what's it called? The routing code that banks use to track transfers? I'm drawing a blank. [Ask your bank for a trace on the funds]

If you call, and the person you talk is inept or unable to help you, ask for escalation to a supervisor. Tell them you can fax your bank statement showing the transfer was made. The supervisors at PayPal are knowledgeable and will be able to help you, if the regular agent is not able to. You may be able to fax the statement directly to that agent, which is much more efficient than faxing to another person in the BA/CC department.

I worked at PayPal and there are a ton of great people working there. The problems they encounter are the fact that they are growing so quickly, it is hard to hire and train fast enough to keep up with the growth. It's not ideal, but it is what it is.

Bottom line, the phone is the way to go, and ask for a supervisor if you need to.

Without knowing details, I'll be general. If an account is shut down for any reason, under normal circumstances, the funds will be held for 180 days. The reason for this is that credit card chargebacks are generally allowed for six months after the transaction date. I'm not saying you would do this, but the reason why PP does hold funds on a limited account for this period is that less than honest people will tell the person who sent the payment to file a chargeback to get the money quicker outside of PP. In that case, PP would be out the money.

Most accounts limited in this fashion are limited for a reason, and a good one. PayPal makes their money by ALLOWING transactions. Accounts are almost always limited for good reason, and if the person is unable to provide the documentation necessary to lift the limitation (which 99% of us CAN provide quite simply,) that normally means that the account holder is not kosher.

Most accounts are never limited, and if you've got legitimate information listed on the account, almost all limitations are able to be resolved.

Just remember the words, "Polite, but firm." Don't get irate if you can avoid it, because irate will get you hung up on. Also, you're dealing with a low rung employee who has next to no power to handle this kind of situation. Do not be afraid to ask for a supervisor, but state clearly that it is not the low rung's fault that you are making the request (unless of course the peon is the one that's rude.)

No matter what happens, follow up, while still being "polite, but firm." Document, document, document. Never make a call without writing the time, name of person you spoke with and what was said. This way, if you have to make a serious corporate complaint, you'll have the tools to help them find out what went wrong where.

Bleh, I've been on the receiving end of this sort of things entirely too often.
