Traffic? Eh? hehe!

I'm writing a business plan and here comes the bit where I say how I'm going to make the money I claim to be able to.... I'm setting up the pricing on the product depending on how high the traffic in the area is.

Now.... I know WHAT it is... But not HOW or how OFTEN its calculated...

Well.. This business plan will be going to corporations outside SL that likely have no idea about the internal functions and mechanics. So... I need to describe it....

Would any one care to enlighten me? So I don't have to make it up.....

Traffic is misleading.

sounds like you are trying to pull one over on your boss/company.

Uhm... Yes... But currently its the closest thing to a "reliable" counter I will have.. and.... 3Ring.... I am my boss.... I am the managing director....

Sure I can use a volumedetect or collision based script with a few tweeks to make a good counter but I will have 36sims in total and I wanted to count a total traffic.

Which is why I wanted to know how it works.

Oh and 3Ring.... You may want to think about accusations you make and Ill leave it as that...

Traffic is 1 point, per avatar, per minute.

(Some people will say it's based on the percentage of a person's session time that day, that they spent in your location. But they're getting it mixed up with "dwell", the old system that paid you L$ for having a popular place. Traffic is much simpler. )

Oke thanks.... Ill look that up... =) and sorry.. Not total traffic... Average traffic.... Im going to be getting ALOT of sims and people will be going from sim to sim on a regular basis.... The figures will be used to put to potential advertisers on the sim.... External companies so I wanted to put a description of how it worked along side then they had some idea of the validity

Keep in mind that LL have publicly stated that the current traffic system is going to go away at some point in the unspecified future. Land traffic will (supposedly) still calculate in the same way and be visable in the land parcel information, but it will no longer drive search results ranking, which will change to a system of "relevance" and may effect your draw of potential visitors and thus exposure for advertisers. Not many details are out there yet for anyone to go on, but ignoring the obvious sign posts ended in tears for a lot of casino owners recently....

it is a crying shame SL has become what it is...i suppose it is the ability to turn lindens into RL currency that has driven it this way...

Seen this in action. It doesn't work. As the crowd starts to thin prices go up, the faster/more they go up the faster/more people leave, till everything in the store is outrageously priced, and it's empty.

It doesnt matter about it being on the search. That doesnt really bother me all that much. And Id love to make a press release on my plans already but I need to get the business plan and technical overview completed then sent off for international copyright to be issued... Then I will be releasing my big plans... =) And they are going to be big and never been seen in SL... Oh.. and rarely seen on the internet but when it has been seen its been really popular and not to this scale.

Business plan? good lord? hehe.... Im a professional and I want to go to professional investors with my idea when its secure so it needs to look professional or it will all be a waste of time and money on my part.
