Annoying content updates.

I purchased a dog-spawning pool from Not4given Forkdriver and for the past month or more, I’ve been getting updates for the item EVERY DAY. When it started, I was getting updates four and five at-a-time, every day. It’s since dwindled to once a day, every day. I have dropped notecards to the creator and although I KNOW he received them, he refuses to respond. I filed an abuse report with LL and they have done nothing. This is a minor inconvenience at best, but why is no one responding to simple requests (in the beginning). Can people—especially those who depend on consumers for their income to some extent—not be decent anymore? All I did was ask that the updates be stopped and I’m ignored by the creator of the item AND Linden Lab. What are my alternatives? This has become less about the updates and more about being ignored about rectifying something that shouldn’t be happening. Could it be, maybe, that Spoonhammer is sending the updates on purpose? I don’t know how Hippo updates work.

You probably have an undated version rezzed in-world somewhere, find it and update it. If all else fail you can mute the updater object.

Most script updates are "requested" by the scripted object itself. To stop you receiving the updates the creator would have to essentially ban you from the update process, and that's rather awkward because later updates might be essential.

If the creator uses hippo update, you will get the same update again and again until you actually remove the old version and rez the new version. The update script simply checks every 24 hours or so, if any outdated versions are rezzed in-world and sends the owner the update. Annoying if you do not want the new version, but it's perfect service to users to make sure they have the latest version

Imagine though... Microsoft sending us an email per day to "upgrade" from Xp to Vista...

i had the same "problem" with a zombie pool from that guy... turned out that i had an outdated version somewhere that kept requesting the update.
go and find your dog spawners, and update them.

Zombie dogs that rez when their perimeter is breached.

I've had stuff like that happen. What's most annoying is when you don't get the location of the object that's being updated. If you have a lot of land or use skyboxes a lot, it can be a pain to figure out what needs updating.

Does the creator have something in their profile saying what to do about updates? That'd explain (though not totally forgive, IMO) the lack of response...

Had this happening with a Jeffries Tube from Novatech, updates every day and sometimes twice. Contacted the owner and found out that my rezzed object itself auto requests the update until the update is done. I don't want the update, don't need what it offers. He told me fine, then remove the script that requests the update from the contents. Did that and voila, peace and quiet, no more update requests since.

Wish I could get this really clarified. I asked, specifically in another thread about naming names and was told it was ok unless what you were saying is negative or flaming. This was just a couple days ago that I was told that, so I went on to say what I had to say and did name names, you will remember that, Amara, as you responded to what I said there, but in this case, it is wrong to name names?

Sheez, Everyone knows that every 9 years dogs have to return to the pool that they were born in to spawn. Sometimes the bitch they are betrothed to rejects them and chooses another... in which case they have to fight Captain Kirk to the death with a variety of wierd looking weapons.

Doesn't EVERYONE end up having to fight Kirk to the death with weird looking weapons?
