Is there any way to look up the final sale price for land that has been auctioned?
I am a bit tiered out land wise at the moment, but i like watching the auctions and checking out some of the prettier looking blocks (nearly bid on one the other day).
Trouble is, i never know what the final sale price for the properties i'm interested in is. They all finish when it's like 5am or 6am here, and i'm way not awake at those times, except for the occasional allnighter, eh.
I'd really like to know what the final sale price for some blocks was, like on ebay.
thanks, Misha

Yes, but you won't know who won. go to this page: http://ld.auctions.secondlife.com/Scripts/AdvSearch.asp That's the advanced search, in the narrow the search section there's a tick box to include closed auctions.

I followed some auctions closely a while ago. The winning bids were nearly always made in the last minute, and I suspect they were the winners' first bids.

I found it by accident, I put a typo in my search and no results were returned obviously but there was a link to the advanced search.

hehe. Nice.
I did notice that LL changed the finishing times not long ago. Presumably it has something to do with people sitting on individual auctions when they finished an hour apart. Now they all finish at the same time (L$ actions).

Thanks for this. (Though I must have been doing something wrong: curious to look at a list of Nautilus selling prices, I did tick the Closed Auctions box and tried to make sure I had all others correct---for instance, NOT ticking the box requiring that search results include parcels with photos, as I believe none of the Nautilus parcels did have a photo. Still, I didn't manage to access any...I'll have to play with it when I have more time. There must be some combination that would pull up the list.) Also: I did go read the two JIRA's. And though I don't have any objection to having LL change the system so that selling prices and winning bidders are listed, the reason given for wanting the change made didn't make sense to me. Frankly I got the impression that the reason it was wanted was for the purpose of harassing the winning bidders. Think about it: if you win a bid, you pay. You can't 'drive up the prices' in some sort of campaign of committing mischief: if you win, you pay. (Presumably if you don't have the cash in your account, and don't have a currently-in-good-standing credit card on file, they don't list you as Winning Bidder and you don't get the land.) The 'drive up the prices' claim seems specious to me: whatever price the parcel sells for, is the parcel's market value. Kind of by definition. If you buy a parcel in order to resell it, you have a right to ask what price you like---and potential buyers have a right to decline to buy. If you buy a parcel in order to resell it, and plan to extort a high price from neighbors by violating the terms of service, then---you can be ARed. Admittedly it WOULD be possible to ATTEMPT to be a professional extortionist by staying just this side of the TOS and new rules on ad-farm extortion--putting ugly walls right out to the property line of the new, up-for-sale parcel or such. And no doubt that has happened on some occasions, and I wouldn't defend such conduct. But: how many people really make a living doing that, considering that land can be had for less than L$3 per square meter, and 'moving' is just a matter of taking things into inventory and re-rezzing them in a new location? Again, I'm NOT defending extortion-by-ugly-build. I'm just saying: how often could it be occurring? and how many such practitioners could potentially be unmasked by having LL publish the names of parcel-auction-winners? Meh. As I say, I'm fine with such a change in current policy occurring. It just seems as though the main purpose such a list would be put to, is attempted harrassment of people who buy land.

Extending Auction Time
12-01-2008 12:41
What I wonder is why, when the auction time has passed and someone has a winning bid, the Lindens can then extend the auction another 24 hours. Did I miss something? Didn't think auctions worked this way . . . deadline is deadline and all.
