Hey there!

Just getting back on Sl after a long break. On a new computer now as well. SL runs fine but when I try to upload pictures, it crashes each and every time. Any idea what might be going on or how to fix it?

Thanks :)

Dalian

What OS do you have, and have you done a fresh install of it if it's a Windows OS?

The last time I had this problem, I had Photoshop and Second Life open at the same time, and I was trying to upload a picture I just finished in Photoshop. I kept restarting SL and crashing.

Here's what I did that solved it:

1. Closed down Photoshop.

2. Did the ole "Clear Cache" in Second Life.

3. Rebooted the computer.

Uploaded fine after that. I suspect that the cache had something to do with the continual crashing.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately my brand new computer has Vista on it, which I'm beginning to think is the issue. I've downloaded the test viewer to try there, doesn't work. It is a brand new version of SL as I've only had the computer for about three days now. Anyone know how to fix this with Vista? I think I'll be sending a nice long letter of hate Vista to MS. **sigh**

Not to mention that I cannot do snapshots either.

I had Vista for a month with a new computer last year, and "downgraded" to XP.

The one problem that I vaguely remember with Vista that you might want to check is "Data Execution Prevention."

Otherwise, you might want to do some additional forum searching. Just from seeing threads in passing, it seems to me that a lot of people had trouble with SL and Vista last year, but by now, the two are working in better harmony.
