Does muting someone include muting hovertext?

I think one of my tenants has muted me by mistake. *mutter*

Anyhow, I left a box in his place for a couple of days with some hovertext about the problem he had. Would he not be able to see the text if he muted me?

I dont know, but I highly doubt it. Can you rez the box as an alt? Or pass it to someone to rez for you?

Or just borrow someone for a few minutes to come with you to relay a message...

I asked the question because I used the box tactic two days ago, and got no response from him. I'm getting IMs from him but he is apparently not hearing me. Or worse, but I won't get into that... *mutter*

But I am really curious, since he should have seen the hovertext.

have your friend mute you and tp them to the hovertext.

I THINK mutation (bwahaha) works on hovertext, too - at least that's what I recall (from muting a horrid tip jar that was noisy, spammy, and threw particles into the air when people gave money during a performance).

If he can IM you, he doesn't have you muted. It works both ways. I think that's what the Knowledge base sez.

Type up what you want to say, " Hey Dumbass, you have me muted" works. in paint. Upload it to SL and stick it on a prim. I did that one day with a friend who had muted me by accident.

Maybe that's borked now. They borked up all kinds of things in IM.

The knowledge base is wrong.

As has been established, muting someone definitely does NOT hide hovertext, and thank god for that. If you're lucky enough to be within chat range of the person, you can script up a quick attachment that displays whatever you type in hovertext over your head. A real hair-saver.

The fun starts when the person's talking to you in IM and you don't have mapping ability on 'em. (And again, the person who muted you CAN IM and chat to you. It does not work both ways.) In these cases, I have an alt or a friend contact them.

Also, the quickest way to get to your mute list is View > Mute List. You do NOT have to temporarily mute someone to bring it up.

make yourself a cut little box with a bow on it with your hovertext message that says

hello mr person who is my tenant muted me touch this box to find out more

stick a notecard in it and he can get the rest of the story that way.

If he ignores the box then he's just being silly so then i would just wait for his rent to run out and toss him or if he is doing something you dont like toss him now and refund money

Looks like he is just being strange to me or just not to bright (hard to tell these days) such is life not everyone can understand

I long ago tried to get people to understand why I wont let them line up their 20 alts at my money tree. After getting called names that I dont even know what they meant by one person in spanish which seemed to translate into i'm a horrible person after spending 2 days communicating why she can't take advantage of me and my tree I gave up and decided that some things are just a lost cause. (She spoke perfect english just the insults she threw were mostly spanish I didn't realize she was spanish until the insults came out hehe)

Do your best if he fails to take the hints then well (oh well.. you tried )
