I just want to know for a friend who uses Sam4, there was a problem with his version he bought, they wont replace it for him say its a hacked version yet its not he has the receipt for it. So im asking is there other programs he can use until he gets this sorted out...programs that are not going to cost him an arm and a leg would be nice.

Doing a Google search for

second life dj

will lead you to a number of pages with info on DJing in SL.

There's a page in the SL wiki at

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Streaming_Music

and here's a page linked to in the wiki;

SAM is about the best around. Assuming that he has a registered copy, he should be able to download the current version from the client area. If it's a problem with his registration, have him email or call them - I've never had a problem with their support.

Winamp is free and fine for streaming to a shoutcast stream. I wouldn't suggest using it if he does voice though, it's ugly for that :/

With out a doubt Sam Broadcaster is top notch.. It's better than some of the RL Broadcasting platforms such as Simian.. It actually has more power..

just check out www.spacialaudio.com And once you sign up for an account there.. the forum advice and tech help is second to none.

Make sure whatever he uses can tie every track to his public-broadcast licence and calculate performace payments due to the artists/copyright holders of the works he is broadcasting. You'll need to check you have the proper rights for the USA, since that's where SL's servers are and if that isn't your own country make sure his licences and payments are valid for there too.
