ok I was going over the install instructions for the restrained life viewer and noticed one thing, it seemed to tell me to overwrite the settings of the default viewer with the RLV's own settings.

will this change how the basic SL viewer operates in any way or does it only allow the new settings to work in the RLV program

It's just the default debug settings + RLV specific ones so there's no issues there.

Obviously RLV in and by itself will make the viewer operate very differently depending on what scripts you use with it: i.e. if you're inventory restricted then you can't open your inventory.

Another option is to use the Emerald viewer for RLVa support. There are other 3rd party viewers which also have this ability but I have used Emerald and can say that it works well and installs in a completly seperate folder than the LL standard viewers.
