I LOVE slexchange....BUT....Im getting really tired of wading through the constant stream of BIAB &Reseller dross...its all the same!! Do these people not realise that the vast population has seen/owns/given-as-a-lucky chair freebie these clothes & shoes already???? Are they really earning anything with it at all?

tsk...surely...there can be a whole new section created for just this type of thing? the BIAB & reseller items...uhmm section?

Probably, yeah. There is no listing charge there, just a little commission at sale time. Heh, the magic boxes could even be stuck on squatter land.

What's really a shame is that they allow the stuff on there at all since the bulk of it is stolen content or freebies being resold against the wishes of the creator.

That relates to something I thought of some time ago ... the resell/give away option in the next owner's permissions should have been an either/or choice: resell OR give away. Not both.

And forgive me for being a little unclear on permissions ... but I would think that, once one of those was set by the creator, subsequent owners couldn't change them. An item marked as 'give away' would always be a freebie. An item marked as 'resell' would always cost at least what the creator set as the price, perhaps?

In any case, is it too late to ask for these changes meaningfully?

I think so. As far as SL's software is concerned, scripted vendors don't technically sell things, they give them away.

It's tempting to think "well, we'll just count any object that will take payments as a seller instead of a giver", but that's too easy to skirt: one object takes the payments, another does the delivery. (That's pretty much what SLX does for entirely different reasons.)

The next step in that train of thought might be "ok, so if there is give away but not resell, we'll restrict that to direct avatar gives and disallow object gives." Hello, bots!

And on and on it goes...

I must admit to be totally aghast at the absolute rip offs that SLX allows. To me, most are like the stuff you get on dodgy tv and ebay at it's worst. Why do they allow it. Money!! SLX guys are all after a turnover.Anyone that has a little time in world can see it from a mile away.I feel gutted that new users are being clipped in this way.Why worry if the real wold is trying ish to sort itself out,if the new one ,ie.virtual.has all the same bandits.I suppose thats the way of life, real or second. Why do they allow it , as above ,CASH. Bloody sad,These online outfits need to get unreal.
