GAH! No Chat history!!! help!!!!!

I use my chat history window a lot. I usually have it up while in IM or reading the forums - so that if i miss something I can look back. It is also extremely useful if the chat is moving pretty quickly too Well tonight I log on, and when I hit the history button, the chat lines on th bottom of my screen disappears, but no window. And to get the bottom words back I have to hit history again. This is incredibly annoying. I am finding it hard to keep up when it only shows a couple of lines at a time. Is there any way I can fix this? Also, my voice chat options in preferences seem to have gone grey and even running the setup wizard hasnt helped...  Please could anyone help...Im desperate!

Have you tried the "near me" tab in the communications window? It is very helpful and I use that instead of History all the time. You can also change your preferences for chat so that the chat stays up longer in the screen.

There is a tab in the communications windows, where you have your friends and the IM tabs from whomever you are IMing.........there is also a little tab called "near me" unless they got rid of it on a version that I don't have that you do? This tab keeps history of all chatter much in the same way as the History.

But now there is no 'near me' and I am about to cry I keep missing bit of the convo lol. Funny thing is that this has only happened since i tried to run 2 instances of SL. I had this one loading and turned off voice and sound in the other window. This one loaded without voice and with the history borked.

Ahhh, sorry to hear that. I love the "near me" cause I tend to miss a lot...LOL! You can also go into your preferences and set a longer time for chat to be visible. I did that as well and works like a charm!

Never mind! All sorted! It had floated itself off to the side of the window. I used the shortcut and spotted it lurking at the very edge of the screen... Thanks for the suggestions tho
