that is actually a funny question as terrain images are 512x512 24bit TGA files wich CAN be transparant lmao

him: i though you had an island?
you: it`s here
him: where?
you: your standing on it?
him: i only see water
you: did say it was in the middle of no where...

/me SOOO wishes she could go in-world right now and test this with an alpha-transparent texture :)

24 bit TGA's can be trans? I thought it had to be 32 bit.

Transparencies need to be 32 bits. 24 bits are used by the red, green, and blue channels. Another 8 bits are needed for the transparency channel.

Off-topic:
Never save a tga file as 32 bits if it doesn't include a transparency channel. It's a waste of the 8 unused bits - bigger filesize.

There's a cool hair shop (I can't remember the name, but I think Lindal knows what I'm talking about) that has a perfectly clear floor and below you can see the Linden ocean. I don't know if it's an entire sim, but it sure is neat.

I suppose they lowered the land below sea level and put a transparent floor. I don't own a sim, but I know they let you choose ground texture from the sim, I don't know if you can go further than that.

If you used a transparent texture for the sky I guess you would be able to see into the server racks.

Behind the clouds, dear God, it's something much stranger than Second Life - it's San Francisco!
