The bleu cheese screen of death is almost always caused by out-of-date drivers. After that, 99% of the time it flaky hardware or heat problems.

Oh my it DOES make a big difference. My laptop used to get super hot running SL. I had low memory on my graphics card so I think it was working hard to run the app, plus the fans were clogged with cat fur. That computer died very soon after. LOL Couldn't take the SL heat!

What kind of graphics card is in the backup PC?

Write down the BSOD error text next time and post it here. It might state a device driver name, allowing us to pinpoint it to specific hardware in your machine.

I had a BSOD when my memory failed a while ago.
