Help please!!!! I have a beautiful no mod necklace and earrings given to me by a friend. I love the design but have tried every command I can think of to stop the bling. The store it was from is RB Creations...and I say 'was' because it seems to no longer exist. Does anyone know what their bling off channel was? I know it could have been different channels for different pieces...but I haven't been able to figure out.
I would hate to have to dispose of the pieces as they are so beautiful but I also am not a fan of bling nor do I want to impose it on anyone else. (So I won't just turn off the particles thingy for my viewer.)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. - Yes, I have read other threads on the subject and haven't found my answer there so I am pleading for anyone who may know of this store's 'secret code' to help me out here.

Try zooming in on the jewelry and touching each prim. Some jewelry uses that instead of chat to switch the particles. While you're in there, see if there really are scripts in the contents, some blingy items have the scripts taken out once the particle effect is set up.
I don't know what it is about the chat-style bling on/off scripts in particular, but they have a tendency to end up stopped in no mod items. Because they're in no mod items, you can't restart or reset them, or put in replacement scripts. So, if you try the touch thing, and a bunch of channels, and still nothing happens, that may be all there is to that.

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, i've found which prims, luckily only 4 stones in total, that have the scripts in them. Touch does not work, nor do any of the usual chat commands...I've tried bling off and then channel related commands for various channels. No luck. And, since it's no mod, I can't drop in any scrubber type script.
As for IM'ing the creator, yes, I did do that, but, from the looks of her profile, I don't think she's even in SL any longer. I was kind of hoping someone else may have purchased something from her and knew what the actual command was that she used.
Oh well, guess it'll be going to the trash...a real shame for such a pretty set. And the fact that it was a gift from a dear friend.

I'll assume the scripts themselves are unreadable, but there are possibilities.
does the object show as no mod when rezzed inworld (scripts being no-mod, will show the object as no mod in inventory)... if not then a scrubber is still an option.
the scripts may have an alternative shut off command, like "on" or "off" or just "bling" or something crazily complex... they might even be case sensitive (a common mistake). they could also have a hold trigger for turning them off by touch (you have to hold the touch for several seconds).
past those suggestions, there isn't much to be done. hopefully you can find another person with one of their items and they know the exact command (assuming there is one... there may not be, but then there would be no need for the script to still be there)

Try /1 menu /1 bling or /1 help. A lot of scripters take an easy out and default to channel 1.

Well, i received an answer to my IM to the creator. She sent me a notecard with instructions for the channel and the command... "/2 nobling" I typed that in chat and nothing, didn't work. But at least I know that she is still around. Will continue to discuss it with her.
Also, the items and the scripts are no mod. So I can't add a script or do anything with the one that's there. I did try as I have a scrubber script.
Thank you, everyone, for your replies.

If chatting with the owner doesn't work, I would be tempted to rez one of the boots and put a script in a nearby object that says "nobling" and "bling off" and whatever other string might work on all channels from -32767 to positive 32767 (well, the total range is -2147483648 to 2147483647, but 32767 should cover it). If the boots are blingfree when you return, hooray, run it on the other boot!
Then pray that they remember bling state when they're attached.

which is another common occurrence... it takes an extra step to allow owner or owners items, and a fully open listen would be a bad idea.
ps try /2nobling <-- no space /2 nobling <-- leading space /2no bling <-- interior space /2 no bling <-- two spaces and any variation with capital letters

When I was very young in sl, I joined the army. No, seriously, I did. Don't laugh. And I had one of my lovers who gave me this fantastic pair of senakers that lit up - all blingy but first days blingy. Anyway, we were on a kinda snow patrol and we were meant to be hiding and suddenly I ckicked the wrong function key and my shoes lit up like Kingdom Come amd in the dark night of this Gorean dominated sim my shoes stoof out like a spotlight. We were all killed 'cept me//, the miserable sod of a sergeant and a few red neck nonks. Bling in my shoes did this. Yrs sincerely Jig Chippewa.

I have a marvelous pair of Victorian pumps from the early days of SL that have blingy bows. No mod and no way to turn it off. It seemed so cool way back when.....

Ok, you are all very creative in ways to try to get this freaking bling off! However, yep, the items (earrings and necklace, not boots) are all no mod. I did try all the variations of "/2 nobling" - still no luck. I've tried resetting the scripts to see if the command would then work, couldn't do that either.
Jig, as I read your story, and in the spirit of the season, I'm thinking of your 'army boots' like Rudolph's red nose!
And, yes, bling is definitely the work of the devil, vice versa, and all variations in between!
As for your reply, Ralektra, unless someone comes up with something else to try that may work, then, yeah, ignore and let die. But thanks to all for your suggestions and stories.

Wow since you did get in touch with the creator, I am really surprised that she can offer no more help than to suggest a code that doesn't work. Very strange. If anyone should know, she should.
