I just joined here yesterday, and would like to be able to play the game, but my avatar is driving me crazy! Instead of showing up normal, it flashes with different textures and colors, all over. I've looked everywhere for answers, and the few I could find haven't helped. Has anyone ever had this problem, if so, how might I fix it? Thanks for any help.

^ Thanks, I was afraid of that. I was just hoping it would be something else and I wouldn't have to buy a new one.

Argh, this reminds me of something from a while back but can't remember it. Can you give us some system specs?

Operating System
Graphics Card
etc?

^ I'm not sure what graphics card I'm running, but when I installed the game, it said that it wasn't the one I needed. I ignored the message because I've run games before with the wrong graphics card, and had them run well. Also, nothing else in the game seems odd, so I don't want to invest in a new one if I don't have to.
I'm running XP, by the way.

Select 'Second Life' from the dropdown menu and run the check. The results will tell you not only whether you meet recommended/minimum specs, but also what your specs actually are.

Er...suppose I was to have gone to the web site you posted Skell..and browsed..and downloaded the latest upgrades for my graphics card as recommended by the site. Any idea how I might 'un-upgrade' my graphics card ..coz it's doesn't work very well now!!

Everything looks great but the sea is almost totally black..any ideas as to how one might remove the latest upgrade.

Perre..:)

S'pose I could do a system reset..which never seems to work despite Microsoft telling us it's the best thing...blah blah..!!

Looks a bit like this....
