Hello Y'all, n00b SL2 user here.
Somehow I've removed the puzzle while on orientation island.. and I can't get it back. I'm not sure what it's called to get it back??
Thanks for any help.

They have a puzzle now? Interesting.
Sorry, I cannot help as there was no puzzle when I took my last alt through.

If you've already left Orientation Island, you don't need it anymore. If you're still there, you probably still don't need it. There are 4 tasks that you have to complete before it will let you leave, and there should be 4 big signs showing you what those areas are.
If that answer is wrong, maybe you can find someone there with a title over their name that says SL Mentor. They should be able to help you. There are some Mentors that post here frequently. Hopefully one of them will see this and give a better answer.

Oh - that dumb HUD thingy for the 4 orientation tasks - not really a puzzle, but I suppose it might kind of look like it to some. Actually, doesn't it end up in your inventory and you just have to find it and re-attach it? /me thinks she should take a new alt through every month or so just to remember how they do things and see the changes in order to answer these kinds of questions.

You don't actually have to complete those four tasks, but if you are new to SL, it might not be a bad idea. They will teach you some of the basics of the interface - how to move, interact with things, fly, etc. If you know someone in SL already and you are both online at the same time, ask them to teleport you to their location. That will bring you off of Orientation Island and onto the main grid instantly.
SL is notoriously tough on new people, but it isn't really the basic, basic stuff. I think it's more figuring out the social scene and finding out where you fit in and are happy. It can be very frustrating, so hang in there and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Near the bottom right of your screen, click the Inventory button.
In the search bar, type HUD.
This should show you an object called something like Orientation HUD.
Right-click and select "attach".
I'm going from old memories here, but I think that should do it.
Good luck, and welcome to SL!

When you arrive at Orientation Island, you have a HUD on your screen that gives you helpful information about the tutorials. As you complete each tutorial, the HUD fills in a "puzzle piece" to show your progress.
If you lose the HUD, look for it in your Inventory/Library folder. Enter "HUD" in the search bar at the top of the inventory window. Right click the item and select Wear.
If you DON'T find it (in my experience, it tends to vanish completely if it gets detached), don't worry. Also, don't worry if you can't get all the puzzle pieces. The Communication tutorial, for example, is usually broken...you can't get the third statue to talk to you, and won't collect a puzzle piece for that section of Orientation Island.
You can leave Orientation Island without getting all the puzzle pieces. What's important is following each of the four paths (Communication, Search, Movement, and Appearance) and learning about those parts of the Second Life user interface.
Once you leave Orientation Island, you can't return, so be sure you're ready to go. They do this to keep older residents from bothering newcomers while they are lost and confused.
There are several exits from Orientation Island. The best one, in my opinion, is the big orange HELP ISLAND sign in the central plaza. Help Island is really Part 2 of your Orientation. There, you can try out the Building tools, learn to rez and open a boxed item, and pick up some freebies at the Freebie Store. To use the exit, click the sign, then select Keep, and then click the Teleport button in the new window that will appear on your screen.
The exit from Help Island to the main grid is clearly marked with a huge green floating EXIT sign. When you leave, you will be dumped into a random Welcome Area. These tend to collect groups of "regulars" who hang out there and amuse each other, often at newcomers' expense. I recommend using your Search and Map tools (which will work fine, now that you are on the main grid...they show almost nothing while you are on Orientation and Help Islands). Find a place that sounds interesting and teleport there, away from the crowded Welcome Area.

Just FYI, you don't have to do *any* of those tasks to get off the island. I'm currently dealing with a rl friend who did exactly that.
*sigh*

I never had a HUD whenever I went to Orientation Island - for this or my alt
My alt did experience a different Orientation, with a castle at one end and a big outdated map of some of the continents at the other. Third was a path with these stone statues which didnt work, and fourth was an amphatheatre for a concert. If there were four sections then where did the fake city come in where you flew through an elevator shaft?

For those who jumped straight into SL and then went "Umm! I think maybe I should have done the orientation after all" then goto Orientation Island Public. The tutorial there is a lot better IMO because its laid out as a path. One task leading to the next.
Although, you can easily get distracted by all the oldies parked up in the corral (the TP landing point) and still not complete your orientation =)

What you're describing is the current layout of OI. Appearance Castle, Move City, Search Pavilion, and Communication Jungle. Sorry you didn't get your HUD. I can send you one next time I'm in world, if you're feeling deprived.
