If you were German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Korean or Chinese, where in-world would you like to land as a new player? I found a great place for newbie Japanese players (Meltingdots) and I'd like to put together a list of similar places for other nationalities.

You might find some useful info at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Inworld_Locations_for_Volunteers#International_Areas

Also http://suezannecbaskerville.wordpress.com/2008/03/03/second-life-community-entry-points-2/ might be of some value.

Thank you both. The reason I ask...

I own some property near an info center. When I sought shelter there from a sim restart I found a new resident in appearance mode. I said hello and they responded in Japanese. Bablefish told me it was a conversation starter, so I apologized and said I only speak English, and she responded with another Japanese conversation starter and a question about what this place was. I answered whatever bablefish told me my response should be, with a link to bablefish, and I also offered a landmark for Meltingdots. I didn't get a response, so I just sent it and it was accepted. Then a sim restart was threatened so I went home and I lost contact :)

Anyway, it occurred to me that I should just have this info on the wall.

Thanks again.

When registering for SL, you can now choose where to start and there are several international areas that offer this, such as Frankfurt for Germans or Meltingdot for Japanese or Brazil for, well, Brasilians.
