Its weird. Everytime I rez to her apartment, she is invisible. Her name and title are there, but her avatar is missing. I can't right click to IM or profile either, but I can push her. We both have cleared our caches and logged out and back in. That works sometimes. But yesterday it didn't. The really weird thing is, she is visible anywhere else. Its only at the apartment does this problem occur. She contacted the landlord, they are stumped.
Any ideas?
Please, no jokes about her not wanting to be seen with me.

prolly just a sim thing.
I am sure it will get figured out soon enough. At my home, I was showing my new friend around and he was not typing anything to me in chat, so I thought he was ignoring me. Come to find out, when he tpd out of there, chat did not work in my home.
Strange things happen. I bet you will be able to see her soon.

Is the apartment a skybox? And you're running the WindLight viewer? And your friend is wearing attachments (of course)? If so, it's a known bug, http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3123, with a fix pending. (There are some other WindLight reports of avatar invisibility at ground level, too, but dunno if any of this is relevant to your situation.)

I get the same problem when i visit my friend in her skybox. She wears prims and yes, using Windlight. Completely invisible, as well as whatever prim she is sitting on. Doesn't always happen but once it does she never comes back until tp elsewhere.
*sighs and heads over to vote on a jira for the THIRD time today*

I could have been helpful and mentioned the apparently reliable workaround described in the comments to that jira: have the invisible avatar detach and re-attach something.

Sorry, I can't see you today. Classic You can also sit on a poseball and stand up again. I discovered today a bug that makes transparent prims viewable from a distance (they behave when your cam is closer). I think this bug has been mentioned before.....but yeah, thought I'd share that when I re-enabled Atmospheric Shaders, this went away. Cheers

Please, no jokes about her not wanting to be seen with me. That happened to me at only one particular sim the other night. There were five people there when I arrived, and I could only see two of them besides myself. And everyone that arrived after me were also invisible to me, other than the name tag. Oh, one did have flashing lights on them, so flashing lights and name tag. Just that one cafe, though.

From: Qie Niangao There are some other WindLight reports of avatar invisibility at ground level, too ... with 10% of the avies i encounter "invisible" when i use windlight, it's the reason i went back to using the "basic" client.

Yup, had the same problem last night - trying to sort out a purchase with a client and went to show him one of the buildings we have on a development platform high in the sky. All I could see what his name tag. I got him to relog - no difference. I relogged and could see him. Then another person TPed in and all I could see what THEIR nametag.
Yup, using Windlight and yup, I will be voting on the JIRA!

Just simply have them attach a box to any open attachment point for a moment and presto..they become visible again. Case closed until LL comes out with a fix...and breaks something else.

Cheers I found that "invisible " pose balls are visible when I use the "Med" setting in Windlight"...but only from a distance... When I go to the high setting , they look fine...which, you'd think, would be the opposite since teh high setting is more taxing on the graphics card. /me shrugs I guess i leave WL on high then

I will try also using a standard SL viewer, even though it locks up my laptop often. WL seems more stable with my setup. Qie did mention the exact situation: - WL in use - AVs wearing attachments - only happens at a skybox at over 500m Again, thanks for the help.

Mine is transparent too... I can see her eyeballs, hug attachement but can see right through her. Its VERY annoying. I ended up rolling back my driver and that fixed it. Aparantly I have to wait to update it until SL does? frustrating as hell!!
